She looked up and smiled faintly.
“Mr. Morant, are you sure you want to waste your time standing here with me?”
Sam was stunned.
He already knew this woman was a top–tier racer.
But what he didn’t expect was that her capabilities went far beyond just driving.
The case he was handling right now? Not even his colleagues knew the full details–let alone an outsider.
Yet Alice knew it. And not just vaguely–she knew everything, down to the smallest detail.
If someone told him right now that she was actually an undercover officer in their system, he’d probably believe it.

The smile on Alice’s face didn’t fade. “So, still planning to waste time?”
“I’ll keep it brief then,” he said quickly, his earlier playful attitude gone.
His tone had subtly shifted–like a subordinate reporting to a superior.
“I know this may sound hard to believe, but your third brother–Scott–has gone to the hospital to plead with Mrs. Irene on your behalf.
“Though he hasn’t seen her yet. They said she’s still unconscious.
“But you should trust your brother. He’s capable.”
Alice already knew there was some connection between Sam and Scott.
She’d also sensed from the start that Sam had come here trying to mess with her.
Which was why she’d shut him down early–told him to leave and stop being annoying.
But-
Scott … went to ask Mrs. Irene for help ?
That–she didn’t buy so easily.
To her, the Spencers had only ever brought harm. Not help.
“I’m just saying, don’t lose hope. It’s not as impossible as you think.”
With that, he let out a sheepish smile and turned to leave.

She didn’t have many memories of her blood relatives. The overlap in their lives had been minimal- barely worth remembering.
Her lips curved into a faint, mocking smile.
To this day, she had never felt like she was missing a brother.
Nor did she want one.

After getting that off his chest, Sam felt like a weight had been lifted. He finally relaxed.
He’d been planning to grab a bite, but just as he sat down, a colleague yanked him back
“What now? ”
“Sam, come with me. Mr. Eric just arrived.”
Sam was so taken aback he didn’t know what to say.
He had assumed Eric would stay at the hospital to monitor the situation.
But then again … they are married . It’s perfectly reasonable for him to want to take his wife home .
Still, it was premature. The investigation wasn’t over. No way they’d just let him walk out with her.
It was going to be a tug–of–war.
Sam sighed. I guess lunch isn’t happening today .
He followed his colleague outside.
Eric had arrived with Daniel.
Sam quickly stepped forward. “Eric, do you still remember me?”

Sam was stumped.
He hesitated. “Mr. Eric, you’re here to pick up Ms. Spencer, right? It’s not quite time yet, and the case still needs-”
Eric cut him off, voice flat. “I’m not here for that.”
Sam was at a loss for words.
He’s not here to pick up his wife ?
Then … what is he here for ?
Was Eric still as reckless as before – even after three years in a coma ? Was he planning to blow up the police department ?
No matter how good his relationship was with the chief , that was still insane !
“This. Handle it,” Eric said calmly.
He took the folder from Daniel and handed it to Sam.
Sam and his colleague checked it, then put on gloves and opened it up.
“Th–this…!”
Sam’s eyes went wide.
Inside were stacks of documents–concrete proof of crimes committed by Irene, Matt’s family, and Josh’s family over the past few years.
To put it bluntly, this evidence could help solve several long–standing criminal cases they hadn’t been able to crack.
It was like someone had handed him the holy grail of investigations.
He looked at his colleague–who was even more excited than he was.
Clearly, this wasn’t just a career boost. This was a department–wide event.
People were going to be thrilled to work overtime. Voluntarily.
“Mr. Eric …
Eric waved him off. I’m just here to report a crime. Sorry for the trouble.”
And with that, he turned and left with Daniel–completely unbothered by the fact that he had just handed Sam a magnifying glass to bring down a dynasty….
Or maybe even handed him a medal.
