Alice watched them with a smirk.
She was waiting to see what other tricks they would pull.
Eventually, the discussion came to a close.
One of them said, “Ms. Spencer, we think it’s best if you talk to Mr. Quinn and suggest placing the investment into the marketing department.”
The marketing team needed advertisements and a wide range of resources.
It was a money pit.
Two hundred million dollars might just cover a month of expenses, but it would solve their current crisis.
As Alice watched them scramble to grab hold of that sum, a thought struck her.
She turned and looked at Ruby.

Ruby sat back, smiling slightly, watching everyone fight like it was some kind of show.
Alice let out a soft laugh and said, “You want me to talk to him? Then, Ms. Randall, are you and the board suggesting that I take over the PR Department as well?”
The room fell completely silent/
Alice went on, her tone calm but firm.
“Otherwise, it won’t be appropriate if I go speak to Levi about this. What do you think, Ms. Randall?”

This wasn’t some casual favor.
It involved contracts, signatures, and official scals.
Without control over the PR Department, she’d be running around for nothing.

After the hotel incident, no one was backing Alice and Eric anymore.
She hadn’t expected Alice, who was supposed to keep her head down, to dare demand a whole department.

“Alice, yes, you are my daughter–in–law, but I can’t bend the rules just because of personal ties.
“If you want control of the PR Department, I might be willing–but what about the others?”
Naturally, the shareholders erupted. They were indignant and absolutely unwilling to let Eric and Alice gain any more power.
“She hasn’t even managed the hotel well, and now she wants to take over another department? Greedy, isn’t she?”
“Honestly, she should be grateful she hasn’t been kicked out yet. And now she has the nerve to make demands? ”
Alice chuckled coldly.
“You can’t expect top performance without giving me the tools.
“You guys are not even trying to hide how hard you’re scheming now.
“And one more thing–Levi invested that money because of me.
“If you want to reallocate those funds, fine.
“Trade me the PR Department for it.
“If not, then all of you had better shut up.”
She had listened to them ramble for so long, and it was starting to be an insult to her intelligence.
If she had known they were planning this, she wouldn’t have come at all.
“Ms. Randall,” Alice said, her gaze sharp and cold.
“If you think a hotel scandal is enough to take me down… Well then, let’s wait and see.”
With that, she turned and walked toward the door.

But just as she reached it, she paused and turned back to look at Ruby.
“Ms. Randall,” she said slowly.

“ I heard you’ve been moving 200 million around for a partnership with Jaxon Group. Is that true ? ”
The room exploded with that single sentence.
Nolan Group was no longer what it used to be.
Their cash flow was tight, and every dollar mattered now.
Had Ruby funneled money into a private deal behind their backs, it would be no different than trying to bankrupt the Nolan Group.
Ruby’s face turned ashen in an instant.
It was something she had planned–but it hadn’t been executed yet.
How had Alice found out?
Forcing a smile, Ruby turned to the shareholders. “She’s just joking. Do you think I would do such a thing?”
The shareholders all relaxed slightly.
Alice smiled too.
“I hope so.”
With that, she opened the door and walked out.
Just then, Eric was walking down the corridor.
He was surprised to see her.
“Did she give you a hard time?”
Alice couldn’t help but laugh at his anxious tone.
“Look at you, all worried about me now.”
Eric froze. He was clearly flustered.
“Mr. Eric.”
“Y–Yeah?”
“At this rate are you sure you’re not getting a little too attached?”
She leaned in close as she said that.
The scent of freesia from her shampoo lingered in the air–gentle, faint, and utterly captivating.
