But April, having taught at the police academy for years, was more meticulous and cautious.

Yvonne’s dropping out had puzzled her greatly at the time; she had even berated Yvonne for it. But if the reason for dropping out was to go undercover, then everything made perfect sense.
To confirm whether Yvonne was truly an undercover agent, April sought out the academy’s president and vice presidents.
Her security clearance wasn’t high enough to access such classified information, but for an undercover operation involving a dropped-out student, the higher-ups would surely have notified the school’s leadership.
April was clever. After some probing, she finally got what she needed from the administrative vice president.
April repeatedly appealed to the school, hoping they would reconsider Yvonne’s withdrawal, proclaiming that she was a good student with a bright future.
The administrative president, annoyed by her persistence, finally said vaguely, “Yvonne is a good student, and always will be. You’ll understand in due time.” Though the words were ambiguous, April was almost certain: Yvonne was on an undercover mission, and her target was the Gonzalez Group.
And the Gonzalez Group had been working for Mr. Walker all along.
Yvonne was resourceful; she actually managed to put Colin behind bars. She then successfully infiltrated Nexus Media, intending to continue her investigation.
But Mr. Walker wasn’t about to let her keep digging. A car accident sent her to her grave.
“Alright, she’s been dead for years. Why are you still thinking about her?” Mr. Walker said, tilting April’s chin up. He resumed his flirtations while bringing up the Thompson family.
April’s eyes widened in surprise. “Eden is just an unwelcome illegitimate son. Are you really willing to marry your precious daughter to him?”
“Whether he’s worthy of being my son-in-law depends on whether you can secure the port at Riverbend Mr. Wälken said nonchalantly
“Why do you need that port?” April asked, confused.
“After Colin died, the smuggling business pretty much dried up. With that port, the business can resume. And Eden, at the end of the day is Frank’s biological son. He’s a more? useful pawn than Colin ever was.”
Mr. Walker sounded completely confident.
“Of course. Drag the Thompson family into it, and all of Istra will be under your control,” April said, playing along.
“You know me best,” Mr. Walker said, before throwing April back onto the bed.
He had taken an extra pill today and was still feeling its effects. He was ready for another round.
