Mr. James Sr. suddenly fell silent, at a loss for words.
Yvonne said no more, as her phone began to ring.
She pulled it from her purse and glanced at the caller ID. It was Bennett.
“I need to take this,” Yvonne said, turning and leaving the hospital room with her phone.
As the elevator descended, she stood in the corner and answered the call.
“Still at the hospital?” Bennett’s magnetic voice came through the line.
Yvonne asked, “How did you know I was here p>
“I had a light schedule today, so I was going to visit you on set. Your assistant told me you were at the hospital p>
“Oh,” Yvonne acknowledged. “Teresa was in a car accident. It’s pretty serious. The doctors said she might end up in a vegetative state, so I came to see her p>
Bennett wasn’t particularly concerned about Teresa’s condition. After all, she was the mother of this body, not Yvonne’s real mother.
“Are you done?” Bennett asked.
“I’m about to leave,” Yvonne replied.
“I’m waiting for you at the entrance p>
By the time she hung up, Yvonne was already walking out the main doors of the hospital. She spotted Bennett’s black Mercedes parked right at the curb.
She walked over quickly, opened the passenger door, and slid inside.
Once in the car, Yvonne took off her mask and turned to look at Bennett.
“You haven’t had dinner yet, right? Let’s go eat first,” Bennett said, one hand on the steering wheel as be reached out with the other to gently brush her forehead. fo
“My car is still in the hospital’s underground garage,” Yvonne mentioned.
“I’ll have Simon James take care of it,” Bennett said as he turned the wheel, the car smoothly pulling away from the hospital.
After driving through a few blocks, Bennett pulled into a parking spot in front of an upscale restaurant.
It was one of the most exclusive restaurants in Istra, a members-only establishment that didn’t accept walk-ins. The ambiance and the food were both impeccable.
Of course, the prices were exceptionally high; a single meal could easily cost an average person a year’s salary.
As a result, the clientele consisted mostly of Istra’s political and business elites, along with various A-list celebrities.
Bennett had already booked a private room and led Yvonne inside.
Just as they entered the lobby, they unexpectedly ran into Noah and Cynthia.
The two were coming down the stairs, looking as if they had just finished their meal and were about to leave.
“Bennett, Yvonne,” Noah said, clearly surprised to see them.
“Noah. Cynthia. What a coincidence,” Bennett said politely, walking over with Yvonne’s hand in his.
“Bennett, Yvonne, you’re here for
dinner too? The sashimi today iset
excellent, flown in fresh from
Hokkaido this morning. You should try it,” Cynthia said with a smile.
She then turned to Noah. “It was just a small misunderstanding last time. You really didn’t have to go to all this trouble to treat me to an apology dinner heard you and your wife are getting a divorce hope didn’t cause any trouble between you two. If you need me to, I can explain things to her p>
Noah had indeed invited Cynthia to dinner to apologize for how their last class reunion had ended on a sour note, which had even resulted in her getting hurt.
