Chapter 1185
[ 615 words ]
She had seen this person back at Wraithfall Mountain.
Her name was Nadia Norwood.
She was incredibly ruthless and completely treated the test subjects as less than human.
Rumor had it she used to be a colleague of her mother’s. Later, she defected, colluded with Corvus, and had blood on her hands from the countless lives she’d ended.
“You”
Nadia opened her mouth but couldn’t find a single word to argue back.
She really couldn’t do it.
After finishing the mango, Juniper resumed her work.
Three hours later.
All twenty test subjects had successfully received their gene modifications.
“To test the effectiveness of the research, these twenty subjects, who come from various fields, will return to the city.”
Nadia announced, “The people from Sanctum Holdings will closely monitor their progress.”
If the modification worked, they would display vastly superior abilities in their respective professions compared to before.
“Oh.”
Juniper acted like she couldn’t care less. She let out a yawn and said, “What needs to be done is done. You can all leave now, I need to catch up on some sleep.”
With that, Juniper turned and walked into the bedroom, slamming the door shut with a loud bang.
Nadia’s face flushed green and pale. She simply couldn’t stand this obnoxious brat.
Indeed.
She was exactly like her mother, with that same insufferable attitude. What on earth did Corvus see in her?
Why couldn’t he just look at someone else for a change?
She had been by his side for over twenty years, loyal and devoted.
Once this research succeeded, neither Specter nor Theia would be left alive.
She’d make sure of it.
Eclara City.
Shanley had just finished dealing with matters at Subterra Vanguard.
He was sitting in Juniper’s room, lost in thought, when his phone suddenly rang.
“Boss, the candy factory called. They said the latest candy they developed is finally ready.”
As soon as the call connected, Felton spoke respectfully, “You mentioned before that you wanted to taste-test it yourself.”
“Since your current identity needs remain hidden and you can’t be exposed, should I have the candy sent to the hospital or Cloudscape, Community?”
Candy?
Shanley was so dazed he had completely orgo about it. “Cloudscape Community,” he murmured.
“Understood, Boss,” Felton said carefully before hanging up.
On top of that, the ring was also in the design phase.
He wondered how that was progressing.
At that thought, Shanley stood up, opened the door, and walked out.
As soon as he stepped into the courtyard, he saw Luella and Jimmie arguing.
Luella was calling Jimmie a ‘pretty boy’ and mocking him for being slow and indecisive in everything he did.
He was just irritating to look at.
Jimmie fired back, calling Luella a ‘sissy’ and saying she nagged too much to be a real man.
“Ha Ha Ha-“
Hearing this, Luella burst into hysterical laughter. “You’re right, I don’t really count as a man.”
Insulting herself?
Jimmie was completely baffled by this reaction.
“Seems like you have some self-awareness, at least.” Jimmie shot her a lo a look of mare disgust, his tome cold From now on, stay away from me.”
“I don’t think I will!”
Luella purposely stepped forward, forcing Jimmie step by step into a corner until she had him pinned against the wall. “Just being near you makes you feel all tingly. If were to take a bite out of you would you have to go jump into a vat of disinfectant?!”
They were way too close, and the position was extremely awkward. Since Jimmie
was no match for Luella in a fight, he couldn’t break free.
Poor guy.
All he could do was glare at her in sheer, helpless rage. “I told you to get lost.”
“Nope, nope, nope! I. Will. Not!”
Luella flashed a wicked smile, teasing him on purpose. “Wanna bet I’ll bite you?”
“Let me see, where should I take a bite?”
Meeting her gaze, Jimmie’s face went completely pale in terror.
What an absolute creep!
