Chapter 886
[ 653 words ]
The second episode of the show was also filmed on a Saturday. On weekdays, Juniper attended her classes at the university as usual. That morning, her second brother, Harold, came to Cloudscape Community to discuss the ‘Ebony Fox’ antidote with her. He also offered to give her a ride to Eclara University afterward.
“Is Celine still stable?” Harold asked softly as he opened the car door, gently guiding her out.
“Very stable,” Juniper confirmed.
“That’s good.” Harold nodded, tenderly smoothing a strand of hair the wind had blown across her forehead. A faint smile touched his lips. “I’m almost done with my work at the Eclara City lab. I’ll have to go back soon.”
“Back to Australis?” Juniper asked, her eyes narrowing curiously. “That’s fine. I haven’t met your wife yet. You should bring her back for a visit.” She had heard her voice on the phone once; she sounded like a very gentle woman.
His wife? The title made Harold’s heart ache, and his smile turned weary. “Soon, she won’t be.”
“?” Juniper stared at him, confused. “Why?” she asked instinctively.
“You’re too young to understand these things,” Harold sighed, his voice gentle. “Go on, head inside.”
Juniper watched him, a complicated feeling stirring within her. Was he the one asking for a divorce, or was his wife leaving him? But judging by his dejected look, he was probably the one being dumped. Oh well. She decided not to pour salt on his wound. Taking her bag, she slung it over her shoulder, stuffed her hands in her pockets, and strode coolly toward the campus.
At that moment, under a large tree not far away, Yolanda was hiding in her car, eagerly watching the scene unfold. My, my. Juniper was quite something, wasn’t she? Juggling three men at once. The first was a broke nobody. The second, from the back, looked tall and handsome, and his clothes were designer, so he was probably wealthy. And this one… his looks and build were impeccable, and he exuded an air of elegance and nobility. He didn’t seem like an ordinary person either. Where did she find so many high-quality men? Yolanda silently took out her phone, capturing the moment and saving it to her album. *Jimmie’s sister, Juniper, is three-timing.* If a story like that broke, she wouldn’t be the only one whose reputation was ruined. Jimmie’s would be, too.
P.n
After the last episode aired, two people from Eclara University became famous. One was Juniper whose dashing performance on horseback had won her a legion of male and female fans. The other. was Yolandas The horse manure incident’ had spread like wildfire across campus, and everyone was morbidly curious about what horse manure actually smelled like. Now, wherever Yolanda went, people
would call her “Manure Girl.”
Yolanda gritted her teeth and pretended not to hear. The best way to punish
someone was to let them climb to the very top, then watch them come crashing
down. And she had a feeling that day would come very soon.
After class, Juniper was invited by Qadir to a gathering at a bar, along with Queenie, Dolce, and Janet Wilcox. “Everything’s on me tonight!” Qadirannounced, holding up a bottle with a huge grin. Don’t be shy, everyone. Eat and drink as much as you want.”
“What’s the special occasion?” Juniper asked lazily, cracking open a carton of milk and sinking into the sofantlis grip was so wide his face was practically folding in on itself. “Did the price of pigs go up at your family’s farm again?”
“Juniper, what are you talking about?” Qadir’s cheeks flushed as he glanced at Queenie beside him. “Let her tell them,” he mumbled awkwardly.
“???” Everyone’s eyes immediately shifted to Queenie.
“I…” She looked down, her face bright red, stammering and unable to get the words out.
“I’ll say it.” Qadir couldn’t wait any longer and stood up. “Queenie and I are dating!”
“What?” Dolce and Janet exclaimed in unison. “You two! You’ve been dating right under our noses!”
