Chapter 768
After a few seconds of deliberation, Ewan reluctantly gave the order. “Release her p>
“Yes, sir!” His men immediately brought Ebony Fox to Juniper’s side.
Juniper supported Ebony Fox’s weak body, looking at her pale face. “You didn’t take the antidote?” she asked, her voice hoarse.
“How did you—” Ebony Fox was stunned. How did her little sister know everything?
“Rest for a moment.” Juniper helped Ebony Fox into a chair, then turned to Ewan, her tone dropping several degrees. “The antidote. Give it to me p>
“The antidote wasn’t part of our deal,” Ewan sneered, playing dirty now that he had the contract in hand.
“Is that so?” Juniper’s lips curled into a humorless smile. “And I only said I wouldn’t break his leg. I never said I wouldn’t snap his neck. You want to test me p>
Ewan’s smile froze on his face. He reluctantly threw a vial into Juniper’s hand.
“Just one dose?” Juniper frowned.
“The ingredients needed to make more of the antidote went extinct years ago,” Ewan said, and for once, he wasn’t lying. “Ebony Fox has been in the Amazon since she was a child. The poison in her system is different from the others p>
Moreover, after so many years, the poison had seeped into her very bones. Even with an antidote, the effects would eventually wear off and prove useless. After that… Ebony Fox would die a slow, agonizing death.
Juniper clutched the vial, questioning the truth of Ewan’s words.
“Don’t look at me like that,” Ewan shrugged with a cold smile. “If you want to blame someone, blame her bad luck for being sold to the Amazon so young p>
A fire ignited in Juniper’s eyes. She was about to make a move when Ebony Fox’s voice cut in. “Juniper p>
“I’m here p>
Tel
The sound brought Juniper back to her senses. She turned back to her sister and checked her pulse. Her body was indeed extremely weak. A look at her tongue and eyes. Confirmed the signs of systemic poisoning.
“Take this first.” Juniper’s fingers trembled for a second before she steadied herself, carefully helping Ebony Fox take the antidote.
“Let’s go p>
Whatever the ingredients, whatever the cure, even if she had to pluck the stars from the sky, she would get them for her sister.
“Okay,” Ebony Fox’s eyes reddened. She leaned weakly against her sister and asked, “Was Shanley okay with you coming alone p>
“He wasn’t,” Juniper’s gaze softened at the thought of him, and she murmured, “But he doesn’t dare to disobey me p>
Ebony Fox managed a weak smile. Her little sister might be young, but she certainly knew how to handle her man.
“Specter, my son Ewan called out, taking two steps forward.
“He’ll be safe once we’re clear of the Huntsman Institute,” Juniper said without turning back, continuing to support Ebony Fox as they walked away.
Ewan didn’t doubt her word. The name “Subterra Vanguard” was its own guarantee.
“Sir, are we just going to let Specter and Ebony Fox go?” one of his men asked as soon as they were gone.
“Let them go? Hearing this, a mocking smile appeared on Ewan’s face. “There’s an old saying about the hunter becoming the hunted. Besides the Huntsman Institute, the Sigma Network also operates here. What do you think they’ll do when
they subterran
they find out the head of subterra Vanguard is paying a visit p>
All he had to do now was wait two hours for the contract to become effective, making the base officially his then he could make his move against Specter. He would notify the Sigma Network and let them deal with her.
That way, he would eliminate the traitor Ebony Fox and earn a big favor from the Sigma Network. A perfect win-win.
“Brilliant, sir,” the subordinate said, quickly catching on and laying on the flattery. “I’ll get our men ready at once p>
