Chapter 1248

“And soon, you’ll have that same luck, too.”
Juniper slipped the snack box into her bag, a faint curve on her lips. “See you tomorrow, Professor Dawson.”
“Ah?”
Meeting the girl’s smiling eyes, Professor Dawson felt a sudden flutter in his chest.
This kid agreed to come to the School of Medicine; he should be thrilled.
But when she smiled like that, why did he feel a chill running down his spine?!
“See you tomorrow, see you tomorrow. Hehe.”
Professor Dawson shook his head vigorously.
He was definitely just overthinking things out of sheer excitement.
After walking a short distance.
Her phone rang.
“Mom.”
Juniper curled her red lips into a gentle smile.
“Are you out of class? Your father and I are prepping a family dinner at home. We’re planning to invite Shanley’s family over for a meal.”
Theia’s voice was warm.
An engagement was inherently a matter for both families, but the Schwartzes had been mindful of their recovery and thoughtfully handled everything without making them lift a finger.
Theia and Silas felt bad about doing nothing.
They had spent the whole day preparing a thank-you dinner.
“I’ll head over right now,” Juniper replied, softly reminding her, “You and Dad just recovered, don’t overexert yourselves. Have…”
Juniper paused, mentally running through the options.
Her eldest brother was filming, her second brother was locked in his lab, her fourth sister was running the boxing gym, her fifth sister was pregnant, her sixth sister was back in Caelus…
Yeah.
Only Melvin had entirely too much free time.
Every day, he just hovered around race cars, signing invoices and modding vehicles.
“Have Melvin help you guys,” Juniper decided.
“Oh, Melvin? We already dragged him back,” Theia couldn’t help but laugh. “Look,
he’s squatting on the floor peeling vegetables right now.”
Saying that, Theia pointed her video camera directly at Melvin.
Melvin shot a glare at the screen, his smile more pained than crying.
Why did they act like he had nothing better to do?
He was busy, okay?!
“Melvin’s shelling edamame,” Juniper licked her lips, flashing a bright smile. “Looks like I’ll have to eat extra tonight.”
“?”
Melvin’s drooping eyes instantly widened, a radiant smile breaking his face. You got it. Your big
bro will peel them all for you,
He was going to war with these edamame beans today.
“Also, is Luella still in Eclara City?” Theia asked. “Tell her to come over for dinner too.”
“I’ll let her know.”
After hanging up, Juniper immediately called Luella.
“I’m in, I’m in! I’ll be there!”
Luella had recently been handling some trivial matters at the Eclara City branch of Subterra Vanguard. “I love a good party.”
“I’ll send you the address.”
Juniper’s lips curved upward, but
before hanging up, she made sure to
add a warning. Both sets of parents. will be there tonight, and so will
Jimmie.”
“I get it.”
Luella immediately declared her stance. “I promise I won’t pick a fight with him. Happy?”
“If he starts being sarcastic, I’ll avenge you.”
“Juniper!”
Luella sniffled in exaggerated emotion, her voice turning gooey. “If only I were really
a guy!”
She’d absolutely beat Shanley to the punch and marry Juniper herself!
“Tsk.”
Juniper smirked, raising an eyebrow with a light laugh. “Don’t let Shanley hear you say that.”
“Hehe.”
In high spirits, Luella grabbed her car keys and headed out, picking a flashy red sports car for the drive.
On the way to the dinner.
Luella’s phone rang again.
Thinking it was Juniper rushing her, she glanced at the screen, but her smile vanished instantly.
[That Old Bastard Dad]
Luella pressed her lips together, irritatedly swiping to answer. “What do you want?”
“Who are you talking to with that tone?!” Lachlan’s stern voice barked out.
“If you don’t have anything to say, I’m hanging up.”
“Luella!” Lachlan spoke up again, his tone completely unrelenting. “There
is a meeting next week dema?
you return and attend it.”
