Chapter 1563
[ 635 words ]
Leaving those final words behind.
Janet turned and walked away, pulling out her phone to contact Juniper.
But just as she was about to hit dial, she remembered.
Juniper was out trying on wedding dresses over these next two days. She wasn’t on campus, and Janet absolutely couldn’t burden her with this awful mess.
At that thought.
Janet put her phone back in her pocket, fighting back her tears.
Kian would definitely have to show up for the professor’s lecture tomorrow.
She refused to believe she couldn’t corner him then.
In the cafeteria.
More and more people were pointing and staring at her.
The rumor of her being a homewrecker must have spread through the entire campus by now.
Public opinion was a lethal weapon.
Janet opened her mouth, realizing she didn’t even know who she was supposed to explain herself to.
She took out her phone and sent Kian a message: [If you don’t step forward and clear this up, we are not done.]
Kian didn’t reply.
Janet lost her appetite. After returning her tray, she prepared to leave.
Right at that moment, a woman with long, flowing hair and heavy makeup stormed aggressively into the cafeteria, shouting at the top of her lungs, “Where is Janet Wilcox? Which one of you is Janet Wilcox?!”
The woman was wearing high heels that struck the floor with a sharp, piercing clack.
Combined with her shrill voice, it made everyone’s heart instantly clench.
Janet froze, looking over in confusion.
The rest of the crowd turned their eyes collectively toward her.
The woman scanned the room, locked onto her target, and marched over.
“So you’re Janet Wilcox?”
“Can I help you?” Janet didn’t recognize her at all.
“Obviously.” The woman crossed her arms over her chest. Her bright red lips sneered, and her eyes were terrifyingly cold. “I’m Kian’s girlfriend.”
“You pathetic little home-wrecking tramp, are you that desperate for a man? You actually thought you could step over me?!”
Janet’s brain short-circuited.
Hadn’t Kian sworn he didn’t have a girlfriend?
Heh.
Turns out he really was utter trash.
Holy crap.
The official girlfriend confronting the side piece-this was prime entertainment.
The students who finally grasped what was happening instantly lost interest in their food.
They threw down their silverware,

Meanwhile.
On the other side of the city.
Melvin had finished his work early and taken the first flight back.
Carrying two beautifully wrapped gift boxes in his left hand, he held his phone in his right.
He dialed Juniper’s number: “Juniper, I brought you…”
“Don’t speak yet.” Juniper cut him off coldly. “I just sent you something. Janet’s in trouble.”
“?”
The smile vanished from Melvin’s face. He opened his messages and saw screenshots of the forum’s comment section.
Along with a video titled “Girlfriend Confronts Mistress in the Cafeteria.”
“I’m too far from the university right now. You’re closer coming from the airport.”
Juniper’s voice was icy, her
expression grave Since you’re the guy in the photo I assume you need. to fix this.”
The whole school was currently gossiping that he was some overweight, fifty- something sugar daddy with a wife.
And also, he was the one who had approached Janet first. Naturally, he had to take responsibility.
Melvin briefly scanned a few comments, his voice dropping low. “I’m heading there right now.”
“How exactly are you going to fix it when you get there?”
Juniper sat on the sofa, legs crossed, asking casually. “How are you going to introduce yourself?”
“As an unrelated, strictly platonic older brother figure?”
Melvin thought for a moment, his
voice
ning husky. “Didn’t they

It was just that she hadn’t quite played him yet.
If push came to shove.
He’d just admit he was the one desperately chasing after her.
“Wow.”
Juniper paused for a second before uttering a single word.
“Juniper.”
Melvin cleared his throat and added, “The other guy she’s supposedly dating isn’t on campus.”
“Drag him there, then.”
Juniper pursed her lips, her voice raspy. “Alright, Mel. The rest is up to you.”
