Chapter 1582
[ 605 words ]
Over the next few weeks.
Melvin dropped Janet off and picked her up from school every single day. On the weekends, he took her out to try all the trendy restaurants.
Otherwise, they just hung out in the library. She would read her books, and he would watch her.
After spending so much time together, Janet realized Melvin wasn’t nearly as unreliable as he appeared on the surface.
He was considerate and detail-oriented. Whenever they went out, he arranged everything flawlessly, ensuring she never felt an ounce of discomfort.
Janet felt like she was turning completely love-struck. She thought about him before falling asleep, and the first thing she did when she woke up was check if he had texted her.
Time flew by so fast she didn’t even realize their agreed-upon “two-week” trial period had long since passed.
Evening.
The two of them left the library, and Melvin escorted Janet back to her apartment. Stepping out of the elevator.
Janet took her bag of books from Melvin’s hands, looking up at him. “It’s getting late. Drive safe on your way back.”
“Yeah.”
Melvin replied softly, but his eyes were fixed entirely on her, and he still hadn’t let go of the bag.
“?”
Janet stared at him in confusion, asking quietly, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
Melvin shook his head. His fingers slowly trailed up the bag until he wrapped his
hands completely around hers. “I just don’t want to leave you yet.”
Janet’s cheeks flushed as she glanced back at her closed front door.
Her mom usually went out for a walk around this time.
“Can I get a hug?”
Melvin leaned down, brushing his nose against hers, his voice laced with the ultimate temptation.
“Then you…”
Janet’s eyelashes fluttered as her red lips parted. “Hurry up. Don’t let my mom see.” “Okay.”
Melvin set the bag down and pulled Janet fully into his arms. Burying his chin in the crook of her neck, he murmured hoarsely How long until your mom gets back?”
“Probably another ten minutes.” Janet checked her phone.
“Then let’s hug for exactly nine minutes and fifty-five seconds.” Melvin pressed a kiss her cheek, whispering, Five seconds is plenty of time for me to sprint to the stairwell.”
“Pfft-“
Imagining him scrambling away in a panic, Janet couldn’t hold back a laugh.
“You think this is funny?”
Melvin bit her ear lightly in frustration, grumbling, “I feel like I’m the secret lover you’re keeping in the shadows.”
They were in a perfectly normal relationship, yet they had to sneak around like they were conducting espionage.
“When are you going to introduce me to your mom?” Melvin asked.
“Soon.” Janet wrapped her arms around his waist. Feeling his steady, burning heartbeat made her feel incredibly safe. “I’ll find a good time to tell her.”
“Okay.”
Melvin smirked, leaning in to whisper right by her ear. “Are you wearing lipstick today?”
“Hmm?”
The topic change gave her whiplash. Janet shook her head. “No, just lip balm.”
“What flavor?” Melvin pulled back slightly, his gaze dropping to the girl’s soft, rosy
lips.
“I don’t remember.” Janet answered seriously, reaching into her pocket. “Let me check. I think it’s peach.”
“No need to check.”
Melvin caught her hand and placed it
on his waist. His tall, broad frame
bent over forcefully as his
handsome face closed in on hers, smiling seductively want to taste it for myself. Cand
Janet’s pupils dilated instantly, her eyelashes fluttering wildly like butterflies that had
lost their way.
“If you don’t say no, I’m taking that as a yes.” The curve of Melvin’s lips deepened
as he slowly closed the distance, testing the waters.
Only when he was certain she wasn’t resisting did he finally make his move.
How to describe it?
It was warm, incredibly soft, with just a hint of sweet peach.
“Tastes amazing.” Melvin didn’t dare push his luck. After a light kiss, he pulled back.
“Very sweet.”
