Chapter 108
Chapter 108:
He crashed into the planter with a sickening crunch of pottery. The heavy ceramic shattered, sending dirt and shards flying across the expensive carpet. Braydon hit the wall hard, then slid to the floor with a groan. A trickle of blood began to seep from a cut on his forehead, mixing with the dark potting soil.
I stood over him, chest heaving, heart hammering against my ribs.
The door to the dining room swung open. A waiter rushed in, eyes widening at the scene.
“Oh my Goddess! Miss, are you alright? What happened p>
I looked down at Braydon, who was clutching his head and trying to push himself up from the debris. He looked pathetic. Small.
I smoothed the front of my blouse and turned to the waiter, my face a mask of cool composure.
“He slipped,” I said, my voice entirely devoid of emotion. “The floor must be uneven p>
The waiter’s polite concern was shattered a second later by a shriek that could have cracked glass.
“Braydon p>
Katherine Parrish came barreling down the corridor, her heels clicking like gunfire against the floor. She was the epitome of high-society perfection — blonde hair coiffed into submission, a designer dress that cost more than my entire life’s earnings — but right now her face was twisted into a mask of ugly fury.

She skidded to a halt beside Braydon, eyes widening at the blood trickling down his temple and the potting soil ruining his Italian suit.
“Oh my Goddess! What happened?” She dropped to her knees, hands hovering over him frantically. Then her head snapped up, her gaze locking onto me with the venom of a viper. “You. You did this p>
“He slipped,” I said, my voice tight. “The floor is uneven p>
“Liar!” Katherine screamed, scrambling to her feet. She jabbed a manicured finger in my face. “I know what you are, Adella Everett. You’re a filthy, jealous little stray. You attacked him because you can’t stand seeing him happy with me p>
“Katherine, please,” Elara stepped forward, her voice firm. “Braydon was the one who p>
“Shut up!” Katherine whirled on her. “Don’t you dare speak to me. You don’t know who you’re dealing with. This,” she gestured to me as if I were a pile of garbage, “is a wolfless savage. She belongs in a cage, not in a civilized establishment p>
On the floor, Braydon let out a pathetic groan, playing his part perfectly. “She… she went crazy, Kate,” he rasped, clutching his head. “I just wanted to say hello… she came at me p>
“You hear that?” Katherine turned to the restaurant manager, who had just arrived with two burly Pack Warriors acting as security. “She assaulted a future Alpha! I want her arrested! I want her thrown in a cell where she belongs p>
The security guards stepped forward, their expressions hard. The walls of the corridor seemed to close in on me. My heart hammered against my ribs, the familiar taste of helplessness rising in my throat. They wouldn’t listen. They never listened to the wolfless.
“Miss,” one of the guards grunted, reaching for my arm. “You need to come with us p>
I braced myself — and then the air in the corridor changed.
