Chapter 635
I braced myself for his anger, but it never came. Instead, his grip tightened. Through our unsevered mate-bond, I felt a profound, grounding peace wash over his previous insecurities. My brutal honesty didn’t break him — it proved that I loved the entirety of his soul, beast and all.
“I am not leaving my wolf behind,” Dallas vowed, pressing a fierce kiss to my forehead. “I will fight, Adella. For you, and for our pup. Ragnar and I are coming back together.”
A few hours later, morning sun streamed through the massive windows of the dining room, though heavy storm clouds gathered ominously on the horizon. Dallas and I sat at the mahogany table, the quiet clinking of our coffee cups masking the heavy anticipation of the day.
The heavy doors suddenly swung open. Beta Duncan Whitaker strode in, his expression grim. He didn’t say a word — his eyes locked onto Dallas, and the air crackled instantly with the invisible, high-frequency hum of a Mind-Link.
Dallas’s face darkened. A low, irritated growl vibrated in his chest.
“Speak, Duncan,” Dallas commanded, his jaw tight.
“Alpha, a problem,” Duncan said aloud, his posture rigid. “Azalea has booked a private charter to Geneva. It departs in six hours. Our sources confirm she’s been activating her father’s old Dire Guard networks, asking about security vulnerabilities near the Vance facility.”
My heart dropped. Azalea couldn’t stand waiting on the sidelines. She was trying to clear the path for us, but her reckless loyalty was a lit match in a powder keg.
“She’s going to alert every enemy we have in Europe,” Dallas snarled, his Lycan instincts flaring with a mix of protective annoyance and tactical urgency. He turned to Duncan. “Move our flight up. We leave in three hours. We have to intercept her before she burns our cover entirely.”
Elder Valerius POV
The fire crackled in the stone hearth of my study, casting long, dancing shadows across the dim room. Outside the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, the pristine waters of Lake Geneva shimmered under the morning sun.
I adjusted the cuffs of my silk robe and leaned over the heavy mahogany desk. In the center of the room, a holographic projection glowed with a soft blue light — a live, encrypted flight manifest.
Marshall Private Charter. Destination: Geneva. Status: Departure moved up.
A slow, dark smile stretched across my face. Dosha and Elder Malcolm had been clumsy, impatient fools, but their pathetic failures had perfectly paved the way for my network. My Inner Wolf coiled like a venomous snake in the dark, savoring the anticipation.
“The Ghost thinks he’s hunting a cure,” I whispered to the empty room, watching the blue light flicker. “He doesn’t realize he’s the one being hunted.”
Adella POV
The heavy mahogany doors clicked shut behind Beta Duncan as he rushed out to intercept Azalea’s reckless flight plan. The tactical urgency in the dining room slowly dissolved, leaving behind a thick, suffocating silence.
A few moments later, Duncan returned, his chest heaving slightly. “The flight is grounded, Alpha. I locked her passport credentials out of the global Pack registry. She isn’t leaving the city.”
