“Wow,” Isla said slowly, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Wow, Delphine. Just… wow. I didn’t know your memory was this short p>
The insult hit like a whip. Gasps erupted around them, echoing softly through the terrace. Thankfully, no outsider was present, the bodyguards had sealed the entire area.
Even Betsy and Sofie, who had stepped out earlier to use the restroom, were stopped at the hallway when they tried to return. The guards had been instructed not to let anyone else into the VIP section. Gabriel himself had sent a quick text to his head of security, ordering the entire floor to be cleared. He wasn’t taking chances. The only reason Betsy and Sofie were still nearby was because the guards recognized them as Isla’s friends.
Delphine’s face hardened. “Excuse me? ”
“ Oh, you heard me,” Isla said, her tone calm but cutting. “You’ve just told a touching story, and I’m touched, really. But now it’s my turn. Let’s get something straight, Delphine. You said I knew Gabriel was your boyfriend, yet I crawled into his bed? No, sweetheart. That’s not fair. If you’re going to tell a story, at least tell the truth p>
Isla wasn’t done, not even close. Her voice grew stronger as she took a step closer. “Let’s start from the beginning, shall we? Yes, you were with Gabriel three years ago. Does that ring a bell p>
Delphine’s nostrils flared, her anger barely contained.
“Three years ago, you, Delphine Winthrope, cheated on your so–called boyfriend, Mr. Gabriel Wyndham,” Isla continued, her voice slicing through the soft music. “You left him for the movie star everyone was talking about
Carl Hompton. Am I communicating clearly p>
Gasps rippled again among the guards. Delphine’s face turned red, her lips trembling. She opened her mouth to speak, but Isla’s next words silenced her completely.
“Yes, you’re right about one thing,” Isla said softly. “I loved Gabriel. Even when he was with you, I loved him. from afar. I’ve always had feelings for him. But he chose you, and that was fine with me. I never tried to take him away. But don’t twist the truth, Delphine. I didn’t plan what happened between me and Gabriel. No. If you must know, I believe it was destiny. Because even though I loved him, the circumstances that led to our marriage were beyond my control p>
Her voice began to shake, and her eyes glistened with unshed tears. “When it happened, I had no say over it. No. But you, Delphine–you weren’t even with him anymore. You were still busy playing superstar girlfriend to Carl. So don’t you dare stand here and say I stole a man who was already gone from you.
Delphine’s lips quivered. Her chest rose and fell quickly as she tried to hold back tears, but her anger kept her rooted in place. She turned her gaze toward Gabriel, as though begging him to say something–anything–but
he didn’t.
Gabriel sat quietly on the sofa, his legs crossed, his arms folded across his chest. His expression was unreadable, almost detached, as he watched the drama unfold. Ben and Peter sat beside him, both silently entertained.
Ben, always the one with humour, was fighting a grin, while Peter, who rarely smiled, looked mildly impressed. To him, this was better than any reality show. He respected Isla’s courage–something he found rare among

Isla, still facing Delphine, drew in a shaky breath and continued, “And speaking of being shameless… you might want to look in the mirror, Delphine. Because the only shameless person here is you. After knowing I was married to Gabriel, after your celebrity boyfriend dumped you, you came crawling back, trying to take him from me p>
Delphine’s breathing quickened. Her fingers twitched at her sides, but Isla didn’t stop.
For a second, Isla hesitated. She knew what she was about to say might change something, but maybe it was time. Gabriel had been trying to fight for their marriage lately, to rebuild what they’d lost. And if he could do that, she could too. She still loved him, deeply. Despite the pain he’d caused, he had also shown that he could be a good husband.
So this moment wasn’t just about putting Delphine in her place–It was also about standing up for her marriage.
“Now listen to me, you tramp,” Isla said sharply, stepping closer until they were almost nose–to–nose. “ You may see me as weak. You may think my silence all this while meant I was scared of you. flickered toward Gabriel. He was watching her closely now, his gaze softened with admiration. That small look gave Isla strength.
“Gabriel is mine, Delphine,” she said firmly. “Only mine. I love him, and I won’t let anyone take him from me. I’ll fight for him until the last drop of my blood if I have to. But I’ll never give up on my marriage p>
She took a slow step closer, leaving no space between them, her voice lowering but filled with fire. “So if you’re really pregnant, go find whoever’s responsible for that child. Because I, Isla Wyndham, refuse to accept that… thing you’re carrying as my husband’s p>
Delphine’s eyes widened, stunned.
Isla leaned to the side of Delphine’s ear slightly, her body touching Delphine’s, and her tone dropping to a whisper only Delphine could hear. “Don’t look so surprised, honey. He told me already. He said he’s not the father of your unborn child. ”
Then she straightened and gave Delphine a bright, almost mocking smile.
Slap!
The sound echoed through the air. Delphine’s hand had struck Isla’s cheek so hard that her face turned sharply to the side.
For a second, no one moved.
But Isla didn’t hesitate. Her palm flew back once, twice–two clean, stinging slaps that landed squarely on Delphine’s face.
The terrace erupted with shocked gasps.
Delphine stumbled backward, her eyes wide, her pride shattered. But Isla stood firm, her chest heaving, her face flushed but unbroken.
Even Gabriel rose to his feet now, unsure whether to stop it or let it play out.
