Chapter 90
“I just asked you a question, Isla,” Gabriel said, his voice sharp and rising. “Are you pregnant p>
The sudden heat in his tone made her flinch.
“Yes,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “Yes, I am pregnant. But how did you even get this information p>
Gabriel didn’t answer. His jaw tightened, and his green eyes hardened into something cold, something she didn’t recognize.
Her heart began to race.
Why was he reacting this way? She could understand if he was upset that she hadn’t told him yet–she had only just found out that morning. She’d wanted it to be special. She wanted to surprise him. But now he was looking at her like she’d done something unforgivable.
“Gabriel,” she said carefully, forcing her voice to stay calm, “I don’t know how you found out, but I was going to tell p>
“Tell me?” he interrupted sharply, his tone laced with bitterness. “Fine. Then answer me p>
He leaned forward, his voice low and cutting.
“Are you sleeping with Jeffrey Cavalier p>
The words hit her like a slap.
“What?” she breathed, her eyes widening in disbelief. For a second, she couldn’t move. Then she pushed her chair back abruptly, the legs scraping against the marble floor.
“What did you just say?” she asked, her voice shaking with fury. “Gabriel, what kind of question is that? If this is some twisted joke, stop it right now p>
But Gabriel didn’t flinch. Instead, he sighed and slid his hand into the inner pocket of his suit jacket, and pulled out a brown envelope. Without a word, he dropped it on the table with a dull thud.
Isla flinched at the impact. She remained seated, still processing the whole confusion.
When Gabriel realised she wasn’t responding to him. He picked the envelope up–he opened it, pulled out a few photographs, and slid them across the table toward her.
“This,” he said flatly. “Care to explain p>
Isla’s stomach turned as her gaze fell on the photos. Her hand trembled as she picked them up.
They were pictures of her and Jeffrey Cavalier–taken in secret. In one of the pictures, they were sitting across from each other at a restaurant, smiling. And in another, Jeffrey appeared to be leaning in too close to her, almost like they had shared a kiss. And in the last one, they were hugging in the parking lot.
Her hand flew to her mouth. Her vision blurred.
She remembered that day so well, She had met Jeffrey only because she needed his help. She knew that she

could trust him to dig up information that she couldn’t access on her own.
She had discovered that Delphine was lying about being pregnant. The pills Delphine had been taking were fertility drugs. She needed proof that Delphine couldn’t conceive. Isla only wanted to expose her lies and free Gabriel from that trap.
That meeting was supposed to be private. But someone had been following her. Someone had twisted the story to their own advantage.
“It’s not what it looks like,” she whispered shakily.
Gabriel gave a bitter laugh, hollow and sharp. “Oh, I told myself that too,” he said coldly. “I said, ‘My wife would never do something like this.‘ I really believed it. But now… look at these, Isla. What am I supposed to believe p>
Tears filled her eyes. “Please, Gabriel,” she whispered, her voice cracking. “Someone is trying to turn you against me. These pictures has been edited. You know me–” Get full chapters from
He turned on her, his anger barely contained. “No,” he snapped. “I don’t know you. I thought I did, but clearly, I was wrong p>
The words sliced through her chest. She’d prepared herself for many things, maybe another betrayal from him. But this was something different. And it’s not looking good at all.
Her tears spilled freely now. “You were my first and my last, Gabriel,” she cried, her voice breaking. “I could never be with another man. You know that p>
Gabriel’s eyes were bloodshot, his breathing uneven. He walked to the table, picked up another envelope. This one was white, then he stood right in front of her.
“If that’s true,” he said, his voice trembling, “then explain this p>
He handed it to her. Her fingers shook as she opened it. Inside were medical reports.
“Because if you’re not sleeping with someone else,” Gabriel said, his voice rising, “then why do these results say you’re eight weeks pregnant? Explain that to me, Isla. Please–because right now, I’m losing it p>
Her breath caught in her throat. Her hands shook violently as she unfolded the papers.
Her name was printed clearly on the top of the report, but the details and the dates–they didn’t match. None of it was right.
Her vision swam as she whispered, barely able to breathe,
“This isn’t possible p>
