Chapter 94
“Thank you, Dr. Matt. I truly appreciate your help p>
“You’re welcome, ma’am,” the doctor replied with a polite smile. “Please, remember to avoid stress as much as possible. And don’t forget–you’ll need to return in four weeks for a scan p>
Isla smiled faintly, her hand resting unconsciously on her stomach. “I understand. I’ll keep that in mind.” She hesitated for a moment before adding softly, “But please, Doctor… I don’t want my husband to know yet. I’d like to be the one to tell him myself p>
Dr. Matt paused, studying her face for a brief moment before he spoke again. “I understand, Mrs. Wyndham. But I must warn you…” His tone lowered slightly. “Don’t be surprised if the Chairman already knows. The old man has ears everywhere in this hospital p>
Isla let out a small sigh, though she wasn’t entirely surprised. “I understand. Thank you, Doctor p>
She rose from her seat and extended her hand. The doctor shook it warmly and escorted her to the door.
Outside, her two assigned bodyguards were already waiting. Isla had requested for them personally–Chris and Jonny. Gabriel had hired them months ago for her protection, but until now, she hadn’t needed them this closely. Things are different now. Someone had tampered with her test results, and she wasn’t going to take chances–not with a life growing inside her.
Chris moved ahead and opened the back door of her white Maybach S–Class. Isla slid into the seat, carefully tucking the envelope containing her test results into her purse. Chris shut the door quietly before taking his place in the passenger seat beside Jonny, who started the engine.
The car glided smoothly out of the hospital’s underground parking lot.
Isla sat silently, the low hum of the vehicle filling the quiet space. She drew the envelope from her bag again and unfolded the report, her eyes scanning the printed lines. She wasn’t imagining it–this was the correct result. The one from today. Not the fake one that had been sent to Gabriel.
Her stomach twisted. Someone had gone through the trouble of forging a pregnancy test just to create chaos in her life. But who?
She turned her gaze to the city through the tinted glass. The streets of Carminton were busy as usual. People rushing across sidewalks, cars honking, but all Isla could think of was the new misunderstanding between her and Gabriel.
Her phone buzzed on her lap. She glanced at the caller ID and immediately answered.
“Grandfather, ” she breathed, trying to steady her voice.
A familiar, amused chuckle came from the other end. “I heard you were at the hospital today,” Alfred Wyndham said.
Isla’s lips curved into a dry smile. “Just like Dr. Matt warned me. You already knew, didn’t you p>
“I know everything, Isla,” he said, his voice calm but commanding. “I’ll be expecting you soon p>

Before she could reply, the line went dead.
She exhaled slowly and pressed her phone to her chest for a moment, thinking. Then she lifted her eyes to the front seat. “Jonny,” she said firmly, “take us to the Wyndham Estate p>
“Yes, ma’am,” he replied, turning the wheel toward the highway.
The car rolled through the tall iron gates of the Wyndham Estate, which swung open as though already expecting her. The long driveway, lined with trimmed hedges and marble statues, led up to the grand mansion.
Chris was out the moment the car stopped, pulling the door open for her. Isla stepped down, her heels crunching softly against the gravel. The faint scent of roses from the flower garden filled the air as she walked across the wide foyer and into the mansion.
Stephen, the old butler, appeared almost immediately. His posture was as impeccable as ever.
“Welcome, Mrs. Wyndham,” he greeted with a courteous bow. “It’s a pleasure to see you again p>
“Thank you, Stephen. It’s good to see you too,” Isla replied gently.
“Please, come with me,” he said. “The Chairman is waiting for you in his study p>
They walked through the long hallway. Its walls were decorated with ancestral portraits until they reached the heavy oak door of Alfred Wyndham’s study. Stephen gave a polite knock before opening it slightly and stepping inside.
“Sir, Mrs. Wyndham has arrived,” he announced.
Alfred looked up from behind his desk and gave a small nod. That was all the permission Stephen needed. He turned and gestured for Isla to enter.
“Thank you, Stephen,” she said quietly as the door closed behind her.
But when she looked up, she froze.
It wasn’t just Alfred sitting behind the desk. There was another man standing near the window—Jeffrey Cavalier.
Her heart skipped.
“Jeffrey?” she whispered, her voice barely audible. Then her gaze shifted sharply back to Alfred. “What is going
