Chapter 344
Una urged her to head back.
Nora shook her head. “Even if I go home now, I won’t find any inspiration. I’d rather stay here and keep you company.”
She asked, “Has Hans been by?”
The question caught Una off guard. After a moment’s pause, she shook her head. “No.”
She supposed her words the other day had finally made things clear-maybe Hans was feeling guilty, which explained why he hadn’t shown up since.
Honestly, Una was grateful for his absence.
She’d finally severed the last thread of feeling she had for Hans.
Nora let out a small sigh. “Hans and Eleanor might’ve actually divorced, but now that Aunt Danielle’s gotten involved, I doubt that’ll ever happen.”
“He fought so hard to marry her. Why bother with divorce now?” Una scoffed.
Hans and Eleanor had gotten together three years ago.
She remembered it all too well: she’d gone to talk to Hans, hoping to explain herself, but he’d just held on to Eleanor and said he liked her whatever he’d had with Una was just a fling.
Those memories still stung, even now.
This time, she’d paid the price of a hand, but at last, she’d seen things clearly.
“After the surgery, I want to go abroad,” Una said quietly. She’d been planning it for a while.
She had dreams she’d never fulfilled. Even with her hand injured, she wanted to chase them.
“Good,” Nora said, genuinely happy for her.
Una hesitated, then added, “I’ll wait until the baby’s born.”
Right now, Nora only had her.
She needed to stay, at least until the baby arrived.
Nora cradled her belly, a wave of tenderness washing over her.
She hoped Una would be there when the child was born.
“When you’re discharged, why not come stay at my place?” Nora offered. “My assistant, Carol, is a lovely girl. I’m sure you two will get along.” This update ıs available on
Una agreed. She figured she’d treat it as a few months’ vacation.
As Nora was leaving, she ran into Donna, who’d just stepped out of Eleanor’s hospital room.
Nora instinctively tried to avoid her, but Donna spotted her immediately.
With an almost exaggerated warmth, Donna called out, “Aurora!”
Nora pretended not to hear, but Donna’s entourage had already moved to block her path.
“Do you need something?” Nora’s voice was cool.
Donna took her hand, all sugary affection. “It’s like this-Judy’s about to take over the fragrance division, so I’m throwing a little party for her tonight at home. Lots of friends and relatives will be there. You should come too, liven things up.”
Nora gently pulled her hand away. “I can’t. I need to rest.”
With her pregnancy, it was a reasonable excuse.
But Donna brushed it off, acting as if she hadn’t heard. “It’s about that time anyway-why not just come along with me now? I’ll let Dan know so he doesn’t have to come pick you up later.”
Two bodyguards stepped forward, making it clear that if Nora refused, they’d drag her along if they had to.
Nora frowned. “I’m tired. I want to go home and rest.”
Donna smiled, her tone sweet but menacing. “Aurora, if you insist on being stubborn and end up hurting yourself or the little one, don’t blame me.”
Worried for her baby, Nora had no choice but to go with Donna.
Donna brought her back to the family estate.
When Nora stepped out of the car, Mrs. Chambers was already waiting by the door.
She immediately took Nora’s arm. “Come with me,” she said, her protective stance unmistakable.
Donna smiled faintly. “Take good care of Aurora. I have things to do.”
And with that, she left.
Mrs. Chambers snorted under her breath. “What a phony.”
