Trash Husband I’m the Top Chapter 151

Chapter 151

Whether Louis knew or not-it didn’t matter.
Aurora saw no reason to tell Daniel any of this.
“I just want some peace of mind,” she said quietly. Tʜe source of this ᴄontent ɪs.net
“Peace of mind?” Daniel repeated the words, his tone icy. “Is that for the sake of the child, or for Louis?”
“You married me because Louis broke up with you, didn’t you?”
He finally couldn’t hold the question back.
All the jealousy he’d buried deep inside finally surfaced.
He had always been her second choice.
“Daniel, we’re already at the point of divorce. What’s the point of digging all this
up?” Aurora didn’t want to keep tangling herself up in this relationship.
All she wanted now was to get Payne the treatment he needed.
But Daniel wouldn’t let it go. He insisted, “Just answer me. Do you still have feelings for Louis?”
Aurora said nothing.
“I heard that the odds of a match are higher between siblings. Are you planning to have another child together?” Daniel’s voice trembled; it was hoarse and uneven.
In front of Aurora, he could never quite control his emotions.
Aurora pressed her nails into her palm. Her eyes shimmered with tears. Her lips parted, but in the end, she said nothing.
Some things just had to rot away in the dark corners of her heart.
Suddenly, Daniel was just…tired. Utterly hollowed out.
Everything he’d stubbornly held onto and chased after-it was all a joke from the very beginning.
“Let’s go file for divorce,” he said abruptly, his expression cold as stone.
Aurora stared at him, stunned, then slowly straightened in her seat. She could hardly believe it.
“You really mean it?”
That look of shock-Daniel saw it as relief. As if she’d finally gotten the answer she’d been waiting for.
His eyes narrowed with cold contempt, and his voice was as frigid as ice. “You’d better hope you never need anything from me again.”
“Otherwise, you’ll pay a price you can’t even imagine.”
A chill ran through Aurora. She couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more beneath his words.
She glanced at Daniel, catching only his cruel, implacable profile.
But after thinking it over, she realized he had nothing left to use against her.
As for her grandmother, thanks to her ties with Mr. Hogan Chambers, Daniel had lost any leverage there as well.
She was certain: once she had the divorce certificate in hand, she and Daniel would be done for good.
“I understand,” she said softly.
At the courthouse, they each handed over their IDs.
Soon after, the divorce papers were signed.
Aurora let out a long, shaky breath, finally feeling the weight lift from her shoulders. She’d hoped they could part on decent terms, maybe even say goodbye.
But Daniel was already striding away, not looking back-he couldn’t wait another second to get out of that place.
Aurora tucked the divorce certificate safely away, pushed away her thoughts, and caught a cab straight to the hospital.
Payne was already asleep. His pale little face was streaked with tears, his lips pursed in a silent, stubborn pout.
Louis saw Aurora rush in, hair damp with sweat. “You didn’t have to hurry over,”
he said gently. “He’s just upset. He’ll calm down soon.”
“I just went to sign the divorce papers,” Aurora replied quietly.
Louis looked surprised. “He agreed?”
Aurora nodded.
“No strings attached?” Louis pressed.
She shook her head. “None.”
But as she said it, Daniel’s warning came back to her, making her uneasy. Still, she forced the thought away.
There was nothing she needed from him anymore.
Louis finally relaxed. “That’s good,” he said, relieved. Divorce with Daniel was bound to be a long, exhausting battle, and with Payne’s condition worsening, Louis had worried he wouldn’t have the strength or time for it.
“I’ll stay with him,” Aurora murmured, gently holding Payne’s small hand. “Go take care of what you need to.”
Louis nodded. “I’ll go speak with the doctor.”
The room grew quiet, save for the steady, rhythmic beeping of the machines.
