Chapter 92
She thought it was Una at the door, but it turned out to be Daniel.
Aurora tried to close the door, but Daniel slipped inside before she could.
He wrapped an arm around her waist and steered her to the sofa.
“Where’s the ointment?” he asked.
Aurora hated the way he barged into her home, especially this place her one sanctuary. The thought of his presence lingering here made her skin crawl.
She told him coldly to leave.
Daniel refused. His eyes drifted to the table beside the TV and landed on the ointment.
He picked up one of the tubes and returned to her side.
Dipping a cotton swab into the cream, he looked at her. “Come here. Let me take care of it.”
Aurora turned her head away. “That won’t be necessary, Mr. Chambers.”
She barely finished speaking before Daniel pulled her toward him. The two of them tumbled onto the sofa. Dıscover more novels at
He was on top, she beneath-far too close for comfort.
“Daniel!” Aurora was livid, clawing at his neck and leaving faint red marks.
Daniel acted as though he didn’t feel a thing. No matter how she scratched or bit, he didn’t react, just kept applying the ointment until he was done.
Then he picked up the other tube.
Aurora reached to snatch it away, but his arms were longer-he got there first.
He sat up and hauled Aurora onto his lap, his fingers drifting to the hem of her dress.
“Daniel.” Aurora’s eyes were bright with anger and unshed tears as she tried to pry his hand away.
That ointment was prescribed by Dr. Temple. After Daniel’s reckless demands over the past two nights, she was left sore and raw-his intentions now were obvious.
It was… unbearable.
Aurora trembled with frustration, her eyes shimmering.
“We’re already divorced. Don’t touch me.”
“We’re still in the cooling-off period,” he replied calmly, holding her wrists firmly.
“I caused the injury. I’ll take responsibility.”
Applying the ointment didn’t go smoothly; Aurora refused to cooperate.
Daniel, abstinent for days, couldn’t help but react. He held her close, half coaxing, half forcing her into compliance.
By the end, both of them were sweating from the effort.
Daniel carried her into the bathroom, carefully washed and dried her hair.
By the time Aurora finally caught her breath, the food on the table had long since gone cold.
Daniel had someone deliver dinner.
Starving, Aurora ate a little.
Afterward, Daniel tidied up the kitchen, then affectionately brushed her hair and
leaned down to kiss the corner of her lips.
Aurora turned away, her face expressionless.
Daniel just chuckled softly, gathered up the trash, and left.
Aurora stretched out on the sofa, covering her eyes with her hand. He was gone, but his presence lingered in the room.
She lay there for who knows how long before her phone rang. It was Una, furious with Daniel-he’d locked her in the studio for two hours and only just now sent someone to let her out.
“Did he come see you?” Una asked.
Aurora murmured a quiet “Mm-hmm.”
Una cursed Daniel a bit more, then threatened to come over, but Aurora refused. Right now, she just wanted to be alone.
The next day, when Daniel showed up again, Aurora didn’t open the door. But he’d made himself a copy of the key and strolled in without a hitch.
Aurora was angry at first, but quickly regained her composure. She confiscated his key, bought a ticket for a flight that afternoon, and left Fairvale behind.
There was too much weighing on her lately-she needed to get away.
Halfway through her trip, in another city, she ran into Warner, and the two of them traveled together.
Two weeks later, at ten in the evening, Aurora flew back to Fairvale.
As she walked out of the airport, someone grabbed her wrist.
Under the harsh airport lights, Daniel’s handsome face looked drawn and
shadowed. His grip was tight-one sharp tug, and Aurora stumbled into his arms.
Whatever peace the trip had brought her vanished in an instant.
She straightened up, glaring at Daniel with icy eyes.
He looked gaunter than before, colder too, as if the last two weeks had drained something vital from him.
