Chapter 364

Eleanor barely had a moment to catch her breath before Donna’s meddlesome sister-in-law swooped in to defend her.
Up until today, Mrs. Chambers hadn’t had a real chance to take Eleanor to task.
But now, with Eleanor finally caught in her grasp, Mrs. Chambers wasn’t about to show mercy.
“I know I was wrong,” Eleanor whimpered, shielding her head as she stumbled, dragged along by her hair. All she could do was plead for forgiveness.
“Wrong? Eleanor, you probably don’t even know how to spell the word,” Mrs. Chambers sneered, shoving Eleanor hard against the wall.

Eleanor’s ears rang, the blows leaving her stunned.
Nora watched with amused interest, suddenly in no hurry to leave.
By now, people from the elevator had rushed out to see what was happening.
“Stop it, right now!” Donna shouted, trying to intervene, but Mrs. Chambers shoved her aside with one hand, sending her stumbling and nearly crashing to the floor.
Furious, Donna snapped, “Lilian, just look at yourself! Where’s that so-called elegance of a high-society wife now? You’re nothing but a common shrew.”
“Shrew!” She spat the word again, still seething.
Mrs. Chambers glared at her coldly. “When he married me, it’s not as if he didn’t know exactly what kind of woman I am.”
“You-That was arranged by your families. It’s not like he had a choice!” Donna shot back.
“Then tell Brian to divorce me,” Mrs. Chambers shot back, her temper flaring. She wasn’t about to spare Donna’s feelings today. “You meddle in your own family’s business, fine but you come sticking your nose in someone else’s private affairs, and you call me a joke? Donna, you’re the biggest joke here.”
Donna was livid. “You think you’re untouchable just because you gave birth to Dan? If it weren’t for him, you’d have been thrown out ages ago!”
Mrs. Chambers laughed derisively. “Of course. My Dan is worth a hundred of your useless son.”
Donna was speechless, completely outmatched.
She whirled on Nora, who was still standing there, a spectator to the drama. “Are you just going to stand there like you’re dead? Help me pull this lunatic ofther!”
Nora just raised an eyebrow, making no move to help.
Mrs. Chambers turned and slapped Donna hard across the mouth. “That’s my daughter-in-law you’re yelling about. Who do you think you are, barking orders
here?”
Donna clapped a hand to her face, stunned.
She’d been back with the Chambers
family for some time now, and
though she’d clashed with Mrs Chambers before, this was the first time it had ever gotten physical.
Donna prided herself on her refined image-slapping someone in public was beneath her. All she could do was glare at Mrs. Chambers, stamping her foot in frustration.
“You… You’re absolutely impossible!”
Mrs. Chambers yanked Eleanor’s hair again, making her cry out in pain.
“You’re a real piece of work,” Donna spat, not daring to get any closer after that slap.
Nora watched the chaos unfold, thoroughly entertained.
She might have had her own grudges against Mrs.
Chambers truth be told, she didn’t like the woman much-but she had to admit, Mrs Chambers was exactly the kind of person needed. to put Donna and Eleanor in their place.
“Enough.” Will’s voice cut through the commotion as he strode over. “Ma’am, Mr. Chambers says you’re all to come inside.”
If this scene kept up, it would be tomorrow’s headline for sure.
Mrs. Chambers gave Eleanor’s hair another vicious tug, dragging her into Daniel’s hospital room.
With the show apparently over, Nora turned to leave.
But Will stepped in front of her, blocking her path. “Mr. Chambers requests your presence as well, ma’am.”
He made it clear he wasn’t letting her pass.
Nora had no choice but to follow them into the room.
