Chapter 1391

She had asked Megan to handle this in advance.
If Yvonne didn’t agree, the kid would still have to go back.
“Miss.” As soon as the call connected, Megan’s voice came through. “I went to the Bureau of Investigation. Yvonne…”
“What about her?” Luella glanced sideways at Jared, instinctively lowering her voice.
“Yvonne said she doesn’t care what happens to Jared,” Megan sighed, her tone full of pity. “She and Esme are facing very long sentences. They couldn’t care for him even if they wanted to. Besides, Jared has no use to her anymore.”
Megan had been with the Executive Residence for a long time.
She knew exactly how toxic the environment inside had been over the years.
There was no normal parent-child relationship to speak of.
Driven by her obsession with the Executive Chief position, Yvonne had been ruthlessly strict with Jared. She beat and scolded him constantly, never treating him like a real son.
There was one time…
She forced Jared to kneel in the blazing ninety-degree heat just to “learn discipline.” The sun had been scorching hot.
If Luella hadn’t intervened, the boy would have lost his life.
And Yvonne had only criticized Luella in return, accusing her of deliberately spoiling him.
“What about Esme? Doesn’t she care either?” Luella pressed.
“Esme has taken a severe mental hit,” Megan replied. “Her psychological state isn’t great.”
Understood.
Luella continued, “Have Yvonne sign a statement relinquishing her guardianship. I’ll be raising Jared from now on!”
“Miss, it’s already done. The lawyers will contact you shortly,” Megan assured her.
Yvonne couldn’t even save herself; she had zero interest in worrying about her son or daughter.
No wonder Esme had suffered a mental breakdown.
Luella smirked. “Thanks for your hard work.”
“Is Jared doing alright?” Megan asked.
Luella glanced at the dejected little boy sitting with his head bowed. “He’ll be fine,” she replied evenly.
“Then I can rest easy.”
Megan let out a soft sigh, followed by a relieved smile.
In the entire Executive Residence, Luella and Jared were the only good ones.
As long as they were okay, everything was fine.
…
She hung up the phone.
Luella set her device down and
walked over to Jared. She staredet
down at his pale little face her tone softening. Did you hear what Megan said?”

“Yeah.”
Jared nodded, his lips trembling as he forced the words out. “Sis, my mom doesn’t want me anymore, does she?”

won’t let you starve.
Staying with a mother like that would have ruined him eventually anyway.
“Sis…” Jared looked up at her, throwing his arms open, his eyes rimmed with red. “My heart hurts a little. Can I get a hug?”
He was only five years old. Facing such a massive upheaval, it was only natural for him to be devastated.
Luella shot a glance back at Jimmie. He just watched her with a gentle gaze, not an ounce of jealousy in sight.
Unlike Juniper’s guy, who was practically marinading in jealousy 24/7.
“I’ll give you exactly one minute.” Luella rubbed her nose awkwardly, turning back to the boy. “Go ahead, hug.”
“Yeah!”
Jared instantly threw his arms around her, holding on as tight as he could. “Sis, you’re all I have left now!”
“Yeah.”
Luella pressed her lips together and snorted. “You should consider yourself lucky to have me!”
That evening.
Clark arrived to take the kid off their hands, and Jimmie took Luella to the Cloudscape Community.
Before they left, Luella put some effort into dressing up. She was no longer appearing in men’s clothing.
She wore a crisp white blouse with wide-leg jeans, paired with a beige trench coat Her har was styled in a cute bob, and she wore light, elegant makeup.
She looked exquisite and gorgeous, her aura practically unmatched.
Clark pushed the door open to come in.
Seeing the stunning woman standing there, he blurted out without thinking, “Wh-wh-
what… Jimmie, are you cheating?!”
