Chapter 1399
[ 588 words ]
Luella smirked faintly, her tone indifferent. “Let them talk. As long as they aren’t dragging him into it, I don’t care.”
The internet was a mess right now, with rumors attacking both her father and
herself.
Thankfully, the crosshairs weren’t entirely locked on Jimmie anymore.
As for her…
She really couldn’t care less.
She just hadn’t expected Jared to get dragged into the crossfire—he was still just a
kid.
“When is Jimmie coming back?” Juniper asked, her brows furrowed.
“If all goes well, tomorrow night,” Luella answered honestly.
“Good.”
Juniper nodded, her tone turning serious. “The best way to handle this is to hold a press conference and clear the air once and for all.”
“Will they attack Jimmie?”
“Yes!” Juniper stared deeply into her eyes. “And they’ll attack you, too!”
“I don’t want…”
“Luella,” Juniper interrupted gently, her voice earnest. “With Jimmie’s status, anyone who stands beside him is going to be thrust into the spotlight.”
“I’m sure he doesn’t want you dealing with these misunderstandings and insults forever, either.”
“Since he promised to handle it, he definitely has a plan in motion.”
Juniper squeezed Luella’s hand, holding her gaze. “Remember, you aren’t alone in this anymore. You don’t have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders.”
Luella blinked, a sweet, genuine smile blooming across her face. “You’re right.”
She wasn’t alone.
If anyone dared to come after her now, she had Jimmie and Juniper in her corner.
But then, the thought made her smile fade, and her shoulders slumped.
She missed Jimmie so much.
Meanwhile.
The moment Jimmie’s plane touched down, Assistant Chen handed over a tablet. “Jimmie, there’s another mess brewing online.”
“?”
Scanning the headlines, his dark brows knitted together, a chilling frost settling in his eyes.
The rumors were spinning wildly out of control.
“Should the company release a statement?” his assistant asked cautiously.
“No.” Jimmie handed the tablet back, his voice like ice. “Tell Juniper to scrub every clear photo of Jared from the internet.”
The kid was too young; Jimmie refused to let this media circus ruin his normal life.
“I’ll handle the rest once I’m back in the country.”
“Understood.”
Seeing the actor’s grim expression, Assistant Chen felt a knot form in his stomach. With things this complicated, how was Jimmie going to fix it?!
In Eclara City.
After wrapping up her computer science class, Juniper was about to head home when she bumped into Jenna Sloan, who had just stepped out of the School of Medicine.
“Juniper!” Jenna’s eyes lit up, her cheeks flushed with excitement. “I compiled all the case files you lent me. Do you want to take a look?”
“Dr. Nocturne is incredible. To successfully pull off such a high-risk surgery in that timeframe… it’s mind-blowing.”
“Honestly, Juniper, let me tell you a secret.” Jenna leaned in, lowering her voice. “Lused to think
Nocturne was just an urban legend. mean, nobody in the real world is that skilled.”
Juniper looked at her, blinking slowly.
“But I totally believe it now,” Jenna chuckled sheepishly. “I just hope I get the chance
to meet her someday.”
“You’ll get your chance.” Juniper
flipped through the compiled notes, a soft smile tugging at her lips. “You did a great job with this. Keep it up, and you might just take home the trophy.” .net
“I’ll give it my all!” Jenna nodded
vigorously, looking at her with bright,
hopefuleyes. “Hey, if you’re free
tomorrow, you should come to the venue and hang out.”
“I heard a lot of major figures in the medical field are going to be there.”
“With your talent, you might even impress one of them enough to score a mentorship.”
“?”
Juniper’s eyes narrowed slightly, a gorgeous, knowing smirk playing on her lips.
A mentorship?
She’d be lucky just to make it out of there without being recognized!
