Chapter 1398
[ 705 words ]
Who would have guessed?
Luella was so young, yet her kid was already this big?!
The reporter hoisted the heavy camera and tried to chase after them, but lost them
in the crowd almost immediately.
Leaving the airport.
Luella dropped Jared off at the kindergarten gates.
Today was his first official day of school.
“Sis!”
Jared, wearing his little backpack, gently tugged on Luella’s fingers, his expression incredibly serious. “Don’t be sad. Jimmie will be back in two days!”
“As soon as school is out, I’ll come straight home to keep you company!”
“Alright.”
Luella’s heart melted completely. She affectionately ruffled his hair, murmuring softly, “Don’t cause any trouble at school. Play nice with the other kids.”
“I know, Sis.”
Jared nodded obediently, waving at her before finally following the teacher into the building.
Luella watched until his small figure disappeared inside.
She pulled her gaze away, got back in her car, and headed straight for the Cloudscape Community.
Though she had been a bit sad to see Jimmie go, the thought of getting to hang out with her best friend all day instantly lifted her spirits.
Cloudscape Community.
Juniper was lounging on the sofa, lazily eating the fruit Shanley had perfectly sliced for her.
“The Sherwin Group?” Luella asked, her interest piqued. “Juniper, why are you suddenly gunning for them?”
“I want to take the company back.” Juniper flipped through a stack of documents, her tone laced with icy detachment. “I gave them too much freedom before, and they crossed the line.”
She had only tolerated them out of respect for her grandfather, but they had continuously pushed their luck, growing more and more brazen.
If she didn’t bare her fangs now, they’d really start to think she was a pushover.
“Will the Sherwin family just roll over and agree?” Luella asked, popping a piece of mango into Juniper’s mouth.
“Of course.”
Juniper chewed the fruit, a sharp smirk pulling at her lips. “I hold Grandpa’s will.”
It was explicitly written: 80% of the Sherwin Group’s shares belonged to her.
The Sherwin family held the remaining 20%.
But if the family proved incompetent-or if they ever mistreated her she had the absolute legal right to buy out their 20%.
She had paid back her debt of gratitude to her grandfather tenfold. It was officially time to eradicate those leeches.
“When are you making the move? Let me tag along!” Luella was vibrating with excitement.
With Jimmie out of town, she was bored out of her mind anyway.
Front-row seats to some high-stakes corporate drama sounded perfect.
“Next week,” Juniper replied seriously, shutting her laptop. “There’s something far
more urgent that needs handling right now.”
“Don’t forget to call me when it goes down.”
Having eaten her fill, Luella grabbed her phone to absentmindedly scroll through the news. The second she read the trending Headlines, she nearly spit out her water.
#Jimmie Becomes A Step-dad
#Luella’s Second Marriage
Right below the clickbait titles was a crystal-clear photo of Jared.
Given the angle it was shot from, anyone could clearly see the striking resemblance between the boy and her.
The comment section was an absolute cesspool.
[We can tolerate Jimmie dating, but we refuse to accept him playing step-dad!]
[Was he drugged or something? Is he possessed? What exactly does he see in this Luella girl?]
[Where’s Jimmie? Can he please put out a statement?!]
[Jimmie’s got some wild tastes. Wait, I have a son too! Does this mean I actually have a shot?]
[She literally sent her own dad and stepmom to prison. Just imagine how manipulative she must be behind closed doors.]
[One minute she’s a guy, the next she’s a girl. Honestly, I’m starting to think she uses witchcraft.]
[Can Luella and her bastard son just get out of the industry?!]
[…..]
“Absolute psychopaths!”
Reading the vitriol, Luella was so furious she nearly smashed her phone into the wall.
“What is it?”
Juniper leaned over to check the screen. Seeing the headlines, she couldn’t help but smirk, teasing wickedly Well well. Thaven’t seen you all day, and you’re already an instant mom.”
“Jun-i-per!” Luella glared at her, completely unamused.
“I’m kidding, I’m kidding.”
Juniper handed her a snack, her tone sobering up. “How are you planning to handle
the internet fallout?”
“Since I just got back, Jimmie
wanted me to take a breather first.”
Luella pressed her lips together,
sighing. “He plans on dropping a
statement after he finishes this
current work trip.
He was a consummate professional; if he made a huge public fuss right now, it
would completely overshadow his brand partner’s campaign.
“However…”
