Chapter 1502
[ 665 words ]
“Well then…”
Felicia forced the corners of her mouth up into a tight, polite smile. “Congratulations in advance.”
“Thank you.”
Harold gave a curt nod, glanced at his watch, and clearly had no interest in continuing the conversation. “Goodbye.”
“Good-“
Felicia raised her hand, but before she could finish the word, Harold had already walked away without a single backward glance.
Felicia stood rooted to the spot, watching the man’s broad, retreating shoulders, the light in her eyes slowly dimming into loneliness.
Back at the villa.
Harold unlocked his phone, checking to see if Lorelei had texted him. Nothing. She certainly hadn’t called, either.
When he tried calling her, he still got the notification that her phone was off.
Filled with anxiety, Harold called her assistant again. “Has Ms. Bellamy contacted you?”
“No,” the assistant replied nervously. “Dr. Houston, it seems like Ms. Bellamy was really upset about something. I think this business trip was also an excuse for her to clear her head.”
“Why would she be upset?” Harold pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. “Even if she wants me dead, she could at least tell me what my crime is.”
They had been perfectly fine before she left. When he kissed her, he had clearly seen the affection in her eyes. She liked him, too.
Had Joel Garner pulled some stunt again?
“When Ms. Bellamy left, she said she’d be back in three days,” the assistant added.
“If there are no delays, she should be back tomorrow night.”
Harold rubbed his temples, deeply irritated. The surgical plan for Eleanor was still being fine-tuned right now.
A complication could arise at any moment, and he needed to be on standby.
He knew how much his grandmother meant to Lorelei.
To ensure his grandmother’s safety, he couldn’t just drop everything and fly after her.
Over the next two days.
Harold operated on a strict, three-point routine.
Feeding the cat, visiting Eleanor, and running back and forth to the medical lab to perfect the surgery plan.
At 9:00 PM.
Harold dragged his exhausted body into the house. Pudge Bellamy was sitting right by the front door, waiting for him.
*Meow~*
Seeing him walk in, Pudge immediately trotted over and began weaving affectionately around his ankles.
“Hungry?”
Harold squatted down, popped open a fresh can of wet food, and dumped it into the bowl. “Eat up. Your heartless mother sure knows how to abandon us without a second thought.”
She said she’d be back tonight, but he hadn’t heard a single word from her.
“Eat.”
Harold took a tired sip of water and was just about to head up for a shower when the sound of a car engine shutting off echoed from the driveway outside.
“Mommy’s home.” Harold scooped Pudge up and walked outside.
Lorelei was just stepping out of the passenger seat.
And the person who had driven her home was none other than Joel Garner.
Upon seeing the two of them, the look on Harold’s face instantly darkened, his gaze turning so freezing cold it felt like it could freeze the world over.
“Thank you, Joel.” Lorelei glanced back, spotted Harold, calmly looked away, and thanked Joel.
“Don’t mention it.”
Joel looked up at Harold and offered a slight smile. “Good evening, Dr. Houston.”
“Do I look like I’m having a good
evening?” Harold shot back icily. He took long strides, closing the
distance to stand right beside Lorele his eyes glaring
the other man. “Than aggers at

Thank you so much,
Mr. Garner, for bringing my wife home.”
“My pleasure.”
Joel’s smile remained, though his eyes were far less friendly than before. “Lori, let
me get your suitcase_”
“I’ve got it.”
Harold snatched the handle of the suitcase, physically blocking Joet from stepping any closer. He stated expressionlessly, “It’s late. You should head home and get some rest, Mr. Garner.”
“Alright.”
Joel withdrew his hand, sliding it into the pocket of his dress pants. His gaze shifted
back to Lorelei’s face. “If you ever need any help, you know you can call me.”
“Especially when it comes to marriage matters. I’ll do it pro bono.”
“Gee, thanks.”
Harold’s eyes darkened dangerously, his glare absolutely murderous. He unceremoniously shoved the carin his arms over to Lorelei and snapped, “You don’t want your daughter anymore?”
