Chapter 1041

“But she actually resorted to maliciously injuring people just to win a prize! The injuries on the other girls from our department are far more obvious than hers.”
Lionel froze, too awkward to reply.
“Furthermore,” Juniper remained seated, her face completely devoid of panic. “She purposely broke the tennis rackets and locked the equipment room. Wasn’t that just to humiliate me? I’m not the type to go looking for trouble, but I don’t shy away from it either. If people insist on coming after me, I have no choice but to hit back.”
Juniper unscrewed her thermos and took a small sip, pushing down her lingering irritation. “Mr. Landon, you should consider it a blessing that she’s currently able to scream at the top of her lungs, rather than groaning in a hospital bed.”
The implication was clear: hitting her wasn’t wrong, and holding back was an act of mercy.
Listening from the sidelines, Hattie was so overwhelmed by Juniper’s overpowering aura that she almost forgot how to breathe.
“Right, right, right,” Lionel couldn’t find a single angle to defend Sheryl even if he tried. Any way you looked at it, the fault was entirely hers. Honestly, Sheryl was a total thorn in his side. Had she not learned her lesson last time? Why did she have to provoke Juniper again? He couldn’t afford to offend the Yardley family, but he definitely couldn’t afford to cross the Schwartz family. Yes, when it came to the little terror sitting in front of him, he didn’t dare utter a single harsh word. This job was going to be the death of him.
“Let’s all just stay calm and sit down,” Lionel wiped the sweat from his forehead, offering mild reassurances. “I will investigate this thoroughly. I won’t let you suffer any injustice.”
“No need to trouble yourself,” Juniper set her thermos down. The corner of her lips curled up slightly, her tone laced with a lazy indifference. “I can handle this myself.”
If he got involved, he would only try to smooth things over and please everyone. “You’ll handle it?”
Before Lionel could process that, a knock came at the door. “Sir, Mr. Yardley and Ms. Michelle have arrived.”
A second later, the portly Barnaby Yardley in a sharp suit walked in, leading the impeccably dressed and heavily made-up Michelle Trailing behind them was Sheryl bruised, swollen, and looking absolutely horrendous.
Seeing the three of them march in looking like they were ready for a war, Hattie nervously tugged at Juniper’s sleeve. “Should we call Jimmie or Mr. Schwartz?”
“Why would we call them?” Juniper crossed her legs, her eyes narrowing beneath the brim of her cap. “In this lifetime, no one has ever managed to make me take a loss.”
“Oh, wait, there was someone!”
“Who?” Hattie asked quietly, her curiosity piqued.
“I don’t remember the name. But they died a few years ago. The grass on their grave is probably as tall as you are by now.”
Huh? How did they die? Did Juniper kill them? Hattie’s mouth twitched violently. Suddenly, she felt like she didn’t understand English anymore.
“Juniper Payne, you’ve gone too far!” Seeing Juniper lounging in her chair like a mob boss, Barnaby Yardley felt a surge of explosive anger. Did she think being the fiancée of the Schwartz Group’s head meant she could do whatever she wanted? Did she think she could just go around assaulting people? if the média got wind of what happened at the tournament, neither Juniper nor the Schwartz Group would escape unscathed.

“So you’re Juniper?” Michelle’s gaze landed on her, eyes full of blatant disdain. “Sheryl is my most outstanding student. Her future limitless. In a short while, I was planning to introduce her to a mysterious, highly respected mentor in the industry. My mentor is highly likely to mold her into a national tennis star. By injuring her like this and potentially ruining her career, can you bear the responsibility?”
“Introduce her to your mentor?” Juniper drawled, a lazy, mocking smirk pulling at her lips. “What, is your mentor running a garbage dump? Taking in any trash that comes along?”
