Chapter 1221

Once they got what they needed, there would be a hundred ways to kill Theia.
The only one who could stand by Corvus’s side was her.
Second floor.
Theia stared at the beautifully decorated room without a hint of joy.
“You’ll be staying here from now on,” Corvus said to himself. “Once the research is complete, we’ll get married.”
Theia glanced at him and pressed her lips together in silence.
What a psychopath.
“It’s late, you should get some rest.” Corvus’s voice was gentle. “By the way, the explosives on you are waterproof. You can take a shower without any issues.”
“But if you try to take it off, it will automatically detonate.”
Theia lowered her eyes and studied it for a moment.
The explosive was indeed unusual, just as Corvus had said.
“Goodnight.”
Corvus considerately closed the door and left.
Theia looked around the room, then walked out to the balcony.
This beach used to be a small fishing village before her parents bought it for a high price.
It was far from the noise of the city.
Looking out, you couldn’t even see the city lights.
Theia raised her hand, pointing toward a dark, empty mountain range.
If she remembered correctly…
Over that mountain and down a few roads lay Eclara City.
“Phew-“
Theia lay on the bed, taking out the family photo she always carried with her, her
eyes softening as she looked at the people in it.
She wondered if Silas was throwing a fit.
Probably not.
He knew her plan.
And the kids?
Knowing she left without saying goodbye, they must be heartbroken.
Especially Juniper.
She was still waiting for her to attend her engagement party.
At that thought…
Theia closed her eyes, tears slipping down her cheeks.
She really was an unqualified mother.
In the lab.
Corvus worked on the computer while watching the woman on the security feed.
He saw her crying.
So what?
He wouldn’t give her another chance to leave.
The research would be finished in a matter of days.
Once it succeeded…
He would take Theia away from Eclara City, somewhere no one knew them.
A fresh start.
“Corvus…”
Seeing him zone out, Nadia spoke up in displeasure. “Can you check if this data is correct?”
“Yeah.”
Corvus snapped back to reality and leaned in to look. “It’s fine.”
He added, Nadia, thank you. If you hadn’t been smart enough to copy Specter’s data and risked your life to get me out, our research really
would have been ruined.”
“I poured a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this research too. Naturally, I didn’t
want to see it destroyed.”
Meeting Corvus’s gaze, a hint of
warmth flickered in Nadia’s eyes “Following Specter’s previous
research direction, believe we can finish the project in less than two weeks.”
“As long as we succeed, the world is ours.”
Corvus was still dreaming big, his tone impassioned.
“Let’s get to work.”
Nadia smiled back just as foolishly.
Eclara City.
In the Taekwondo gym.
Juniper was in a bad mood, aggressively beating up a “human punching bag.”
“Stop, stop, stop!”
Kurt Schwartz couldn’t hold on any longer. He raised his hands in surrender, panting
heavily. “Juniper, you’re beating me like I owe you money!”
“Is this the result of you training with Ebony Fox for months?”
Juniper pulled off her gloves and threw them at his chest, smirking coldly The fact that she hasn’t kicked you out yet means she must have a conscience
“I’ve been working hard!”
“This is boring,” Juniper said, her eyes downcast as she walked away, clearly in a foul mood.
“Juniper.”
Kurt chased after her, holding the gloves, asking carefully, “Not satisfied yet? We can keep going! I can hold out a bit longer!”
“Forget it.”
Juniper stuffed her hands in her pockets, completely ruthless. “Your fragile little body can’t handle my punches.”
