Chapter 1263
[ 643 words ]
“Oh, and I secretly saved a bunch of good snacks for you. They’re all hidden in my room.”
“Eat them yourself.” Luella pried his hands off her. Just as she was about to walk away, a shrill voice shattered the moment.
“Jared, what are you doing over here?”
Luella glanced over to see Yvonne, dressed to the nines in head-to-toe luxury, rushing toward them in her designer heels.
“Get over here!”
Yvonne yanked Jared behind her, glaring at Luella with intense suspicion. Her voice was razor-sharp. “Luella, what were you just trying to do to my son?”
“You’re insane.” Luella couldn’t be bothered to engage and turned to leave.
“I asked you a question.” Yvonne grabbed Luella’s arm, pressing aggressively. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re scheming. If you dare lay a finger on my son, “‘—”
“You’ll what?” Luella stopped, slowly turning back around. Shoving her hands into her pockets, she looked the woman up and down with a lazy, mocking smile. “You’ll kill me?”
“I—”
Yvonne opened her mouth to speak, but was immediately cut off.
“You probably can’t kill me,” Luella said, the faint smile remaining on her lips, her tone dripping with contempt. “If you could, how would I still be standing here breathing down your neck?”
“Or better yet, you *wouldn’t dare* kill me.”
Luella took a step forward, and Yvonne instinctively took a step back in fear.
“If I die, your lives will turn to hell. Your precious son would be eaten alive by the wolves constantly eyeing the Chief’s seat.”
Why would she ever destroy her own human shield? The perfect tool for clearing away her son’s obstacles.
Yvonne’s face twisted, unable to form a rebuttal. She hadn’t seen this wretched girl a while, but she realized Luella had only grown more arrogant and suffocatingly dark. God only knew what kind of trash she was hanging around outside to pick up such a vulgar, aggressive aura. She talked and walked like a street thug.
Where was the refinement expected of the Executive Chief’s son?
A future heir?
It was a laughable concept to anyone who saw her.
“Sharp-tongued as ever,” Yvonne said, tightening her grip on her purse as she maintained her haughty facade. might not dare to touch you, but there are plenty of people out, there who want you gone You come back here and throw the whole residence into chaos. When something finally happens to you, I doubt anyone will even bother to collect your corpse.”
“Mom!” Hearing his mother’s curse, Jared’s expression instantly fell. He spoke visibly upset. “How can
you say that about my brother My brother is great! He’s not going to diet
Luella glanced at the kid, her expression complicated.
“Luella, I have a ton of bodyguards Jared stepped forward, his sense of justice overflowing. “I’ll give them all to you! They!! protect you so nothing bad happens.
“You little traitor!” Yvonne was so furious she poked her son hard in the forehead, scolding him sharply. “Whether Luella lives or dies has nothing to do with you!”
“Of course it does! He’s my brother!” Jared stood his ground defiantly. “When I grow up, I’m going to protect him!”
“You”
Yvonne looked at Jared, then at Luella’s mocking smirk. Enraged, she grabbed her son by the collar and dragged him away.
*Psycho.*
Luella let out a cold laugh and turned to leave.
In a secluded corner of the estate.
Yvonne let go of her son, speaking to him with deadly seriousness. “What’s all this ‘brother’ nonsense? He is your mortal enemy. He wishes you were dead.”
“Liar!” Jared looked up at her, tears of frustration in his eyes. “My brother wouldn’t do that! He’s a good person! I like him!”
“Mom, you’re not allowed to yell at my brother anymore, or I’ll stop talking to you.” Dropping his ultimate threat, Jared turned and ran off.
“You…”
Yvonne stood rooted to the spot, her hands on her hips, practically coughing up blood from sheer anger.
Was this overly loyal, completely misguided child really hers?
