Chapter 1279
[ 622 words ]
“Okk.”
Luella was so excited she almost jumped up to thank Shanley, but remembering his earlier words, she sat back down. “Thanks, Shanley,” she muttered softly.
“I did it for Juniper,” Shanley replied flatly.
“I know, I know.” Luella poured Juniper a glass of water, grinning. “Let me serve you, Princess.”
Just as she was mid-compliment, a waiter’s voice drifted from the entrance. “Right this way, Mr. Tate!”
Luella’s hand jerked. She looked up. It really was that pretty boy.
What was he doing here?
“Jimmie?” Juniper was equally surprised to see him.
On the way here, she’d gotten a call from him saying he was back in the country after wrapping up work and asking where she was. She told him she was grabbing dinner with Luella at Moonlight Peak. Knowing the two of them couldn’t stand each other, she had deliberately emphasized that Luella was there.
She hadn’t expected him to actually show up.
“Hey, pretty—” Luella caught herself, swallowing the insult. She adjusted her expression. “Jimmie. You’re back?”
“Yeah.” Jimmie set his bag down, took the seat right next to Luella, and casually picked up the water glass in front of her.
“Hey-” Luella’s eyes widened. She reached out instinctively to snatch it back, but it was too late.
She could only watch helplessly as he took a sip.
“That’s my glass,” she pointed out in a small voice. “I already drank from it.”
“?” Jimmie paused. The seat had been empty, so he assumed Juniper had poured it for him in advance.
“Sorry.” Looking a bit awkward, he set the glass down and handed her a fresh one.
“It’s fine.” Luella scratched her head, sinking back into her chair. Her cheeks felt inexplicably warm.
How weird. He was the one who messed up. Why was she blushing?
“I was a little hungry after my flight. Heard you guys were eating here, so I figured I’d swing by,” Jimmie explained, clearing his throat.
“Oh.” Juniper blinked. Something felt incredibly off, though she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
Halfway through the meal, it finally hit her.
Jimmie and Luella were actually getting along? Without a single argument?
That was scientifically impossible. Usually, they were at each other’s throats within seconds of making eye contact.
What had happened?
“What are you staring at?” Shanley asked, placing some food on Juniper’s plate.
“Oh!” Luella, acting as if she could read Juniper’s mind, instantly knew what she was wondering about
She
launched into the story of the e
accident in Stellara Country.
“But don’t worry, Juniper. I’ve already taught her a lesson,” Luella went on. “I had the two of them locked up in the Memorial Hall, and then I let some snakes loose
there. Theyre
probably still recovering in the hospital right now, haha…”
She turned to Jimmie. “So, how do you like that for payback?”
“I like it.” Jimmie looked at Luella, his dark eyes flickering slightly as his lips pressed into a thin line.
He had thought she was just talking tough back then. He hadn’t expected her to actually get revenge for him.
“What if your dad catches you?” his voice was husky. He hadn’t forgotten the deep,
red slap mark he had seen on her face.
“Not a big deal.” Luella leaned back
looking completely unbothered. “Worst case, I take a beating. Its not like he has the guts to kill me.
Jimmie furrowed his brows. Suddenly, a heavy weight seemed to press against his chest. It felt stifling. Uncomfortable.
“Let’s just eat.” Without thinking, Jimmie picked up his silverware and placed a piece of chicken wing on Luella’s plate.
The moment he pulled his hand back, he realized what he had done.
He was actually feeling sorry for Luella. And voluntarily serving her food?
He looked up to find all three of them staring at him.
*Clatter_*
Luella’s fork hit the floor. She scooted her chair back in pure shock.
Oh my god.
The great movie star had officially been possessed!
