Chapter 1325
[ 595 words ]
Staring at Jimmie, flashes of last night flooded Luella’s memory.
It was absolutely terrifying.
She shrank back under the duvet, leaving only her wide, glaring eyes visible. Her eyelashes fluttered frantically. “Jimmie Tate, get the hell out of here!”
She grabbed a pillow and hurled it at his head.
Jimmie caught it effortlessly, tossed it onto the sofa, and sat down on the edge of the mattress.
He gently tugged at the blanket. “Aren’t you suffocating under there?”
“None of your business.”
Luella croaked, her voice completely hoarse.
“Come on, let me feed you,” Jimmie coaxed in a ridiculously soft voice. “After you eat, I’ll help you with the ointment.”
“Don’t you dare bring that up!”
Luella glared daggers at him, grinding her teeth. “Just you wait, Jimmie. I’m going to kill you!”
“Why are you so mad?”
Jimmie leaned over, brushing the tangled hair from her face, an unapologetic smile playing on his lips. “I didn’t plan on going that far last night, but you challenged me. You said you weren’t satisfied. You can’t exactly blame me for…”
“Shut up.”
Luella turned her head away, her eyes rimmed with red. “Jimmie, are you seriously telling me you’ve never had a girlfriend?”
“Never.”
Jimmie answered honestly. “I wouldn’t lie to you about something like this.”
“I don’t believe you.”
Luella bit her lip. She shifted her weight, but the sudden movement sent a sharp ache through her abdomen.
A man who had never dated was this good at… that?
Bullshit!
“I might be a beginner, but I’m a fast learner,” Jimmie said, kissing her aggressively pouting lips. He looked at her with a gentle laugh. “From the very beginning, you’re the only one I’ve ever wanted, the only one I’ve ever…”
Before he could finish his sentence.
Luella slapped his arm, and Jimmie immediately clamped his mouth shut.
“Eat something.”
Jimmie smiled, picking up the bowl of soup and patiently spooning it into her mouth.
“This doesn’t taste like hotel food,” Luella said, frowning slightly. “Did you make this?”
“How is it?”
Jimmie nodded, his eyes locked onto hers.
“It’s fine.”
The girl raised her chin haughtily. She took a few more bites, then ordered Jimmie to grab her phone.
The pretty boy complied.
As soon as she unlocked the screen, she saw ten missed calls from Lachlan.
Crap.
Luella irritably rubbed her head, gesturing for Jimmie to stay completely silent as she dialed back.
“Where the hell have you been?!”
Lachlan’s furious roar blasted through the speaker the second the call connected.
“I was negotiating the deal with Subterra Vanguard last night. It ran late, and I overslept.”
Luella lied smoothly, her tone perfectly flat. “There’s a fifty percent chance we can close the deal.”
“Really?”
The line went dead silent for two seconds before Lachlan’s tone drastically softened. He sounded almost pleased. “You’ve worked hard.” . FindNovel.net
“It is a bit exhausting.”
Luella glanced up guiltily at the man sitting across from her, who was currently watching her with an incredibly smug smirk. Her face burned.
“Father, can I skip going into the
Political Council today?” Luella lied
without missing a beat. “The rep

Subterra Vanguard wants to

“Take the day.”
Lachlan’s voice now held a distinct warmth. “The Australis deal is your top priority. Don’t worry about anything else for now.”
“Understood.”
After a few more perfunctory words, Luella hung up and tossed her phone as far away as possible.
“I need to wash my face.”
“Alright.”
Jimmie effortlessly scooped her into his arms and carried her to the master bathroom.
He handled her like a precious child, expertly helping her brush her teeth and wash her face.
The more he did, the more suspicious Luella became. “Jimmie, you are way too good at this.”
“I learned from watching.”
Jimmie smiled gently, answering without a second thought. “This is exactly how Shanley waits on Juniper.”
