Chapter 1348
[ 632 words ]
In the living room.
Four people. Eight eyes staring at each other. No one said a word.
The silence was so awkward it was practically suffocating.
Luella pressed her lips together, slowly lifting her head to offer a respectful apology. “About this…”
“This has nothing to do with Luella.”
Jimmie tightened his grip on her hand, looking straight at his parents. “I fell for Luella first. I pursued Luella relentlessly until Luella finally said yes. Please don’t blame Luella.”
“It’s my fault too,” Luella nodded emphatically, her eyes rimmed with red. “I’m so sorry. There are reasons why I can’t explain everything to you right now.”
She had no choice but to let them sit with their confusion for a while.
Theia and Silas looked at the unshed tears in Luella’s eyes, and their hearts immediately softened.
Juniper had told them before. Luella had lived a harsh, exhausting life since childhood and had never known the warmth of a real family. That was why the boy had been so overjoyed when they took him under their wing. It was just that-they never expected these two to end up together.
After a long silence, Theia looked up. She had already composed herself, offering a gentle, reassuring smile. “Oh, sweetheart, what are you apologizing for?”
“Huh?” Luella stared at her with watery, nervous eyes.
“Silas and I are older. We don’t pretend to understand everything about how young people handle relationships these days. But as long as you’re happy, nothing else matters.”
“But-” Luella licked her dry lips, her voice raspy. “You and Mr. Blackwood really don’t mind my identity?”
“To be honest, it was a massive shock,” Theia admitted, letting out a self- deprecating laugh. “But don’t worry. We’ll adjust. Since you and Jimmie have decided to be together, we fully respect your choice.”
“Exactly,” “Silas echoed his wife, clearing his throat from his rigid posture on the sofa. “We just need a little time to process it all, but we absolutely aren’t against it.”
Love was a complicated thing. Maybe they would be even happier together.
Luella froze, staring at the two elders in sheer disbelief. An overwhelming wave of gratitude washed over her.
“You haven’t had breakfast yet, have you?”
Theia stood up, looking warmly at Luella. “I brought some food over. You two should eat. Next time you come home, I’ll make you whatever you want.”
“Thank you. Thank you so much,” Luella whispered, biting her lip to keep the tears from falling.
With the pleasantries out of the way, Silas and Theia tactfully excused themselves to give the couple some space.
Once they were in the car, Theia
clutched her chest, turning net
toward her husband. “I’m not dreaming, am 1? that felt completely surreal!”
“It definitely felt surreal.”
Silas wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead, his emotions a tangled mess.
“I need to make sure I’m awake.”
Theia rolled up her sleeve, fully intending to bite her own arm, but stopped when she realized it would hürnstead, her eyes landed on Silas sitting next to her.
She leaned over, grabbed his hand, and chomped down.
“Ow!”
Caught completely off guard, Silas looked down to find a perfect set of teeth marks on his hand.
“It’s real. It’s real.”
Theia let out a long sigh, shaking her
head in defeat Kids grow up and
make their own choices. Whatever we just accept it.”

Silas rubbed his bitten hand, feeling incredibly wronged but utterly helpless.
His son was really dating Luella!
And the bite mark on his hand was definitely real!!!

Inside the apartment, the front door clicked shut.
Luella was still standing in the exact same spot, her head bowed as she nervously
played with her fingers.
“Hey, what’s wrong?”
Jimmie stepped closer, gently tilting her chin up to check her face.
“Jimmie…”
Luella looked up at him, and large, crystal-clear tears suddenly began pouring down her face.
Her bottom lip quivered, and her eyes were bright red, looking like someone who had just suffered the greatest injustice in the world.
