Chapter 1406
[ 588 words ]
The crowd was highly skeptical.
Many suspected there was no “medical deity” on the other end of the line at all. She was just putting on a good show.
“I got it!”
Jenna’s voice rang out. She quickly forwarded the files to the judges and projected them onto the main screen.
It was the raw, unfiltered data. There were even handwritten surgical notes.
The handwriting was erratic, looking as if the author had zero patience, yet the pen strokes possessed a sharp, undeniable elegance.
It practically oozed the aura of a master.
The audience: “?”
The judges leaned in, scrutinizing every page. It was undeniably authentic. The sender had even included the raw, unedited, multi-angle footage of the surgery itself.
“This specific procedure is highly sensitive. The only reason it wasn’t published online was to protect the patient’s privacy,” Juniper declared into the microphone, her voice carrying absolute authority. “The surgery is complex, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.”
More than a few people had accused this specific case study of being a total fabrication.
That was exactly why she had selected this specific file for Jenna—to shut the skeptics down for good.
“What about the Authorization Letter?” one of the judges finally spoke up. “Do you have a document personally signed by Dr. Nocturne?”
Authorization Letter?
Juniper glanced at Jenna, her brows knitting into a deep frown. What the hell was that? She’d never even heard of it.
Jenna’s shoulders slumped, her face a mask of absolute despair.
She simply didn’t have enough competition experience to know a formal, handwritten authorization was mandatory.
Juniper had performed a miracle getting the raw data here in minutes. But a
signature had to be physically penned-scans and faxes were strictly prohibited in the finals.
Unless Dr. Nocturne could magically teleport into the room, they were doomed.
It was over.
“I’ll see what I can do.”
Shanley pulled out his phone and texted Felton, ordering him to deal with the paperwork immediately.
Felton, who was waiting outside the venue, sprang into action.
Luckily, there was a print shop right across the street, and he quickly established a secure line with the Vanguard team.
Within minutes, a pristine Authorization Letter was hot off the press.
“The paperwork will be here in less than ten minutes. But, Juniper… if you sign it, your cover is blown.”
Juniper pressed her lips together, a heavy, contemplative look settling over her features.
“Miss Payne, if you know Dr. Nocturne personally, surely you can get her signature, right?” someone in the crowd began to jeer. Why don’t you just vídeo call her right now?”
The audience was packed with medical students and industry professionals. Every single one of them was dying to unmask the legendary phantom doctor. Juniper’s frown deepened, a flash of pure annoyance crossing her face.
Call herself on video?
Were these people insane?
More importantly, she had zero intentions of exposing her alter ego today. “Why so quiet?”
Seeing her silence, the audience’s imagination ran wild.
“Shanley Schwartz employs a team of the deadliest hackers on the planet. Forget secure servers, they could dig up secrets buried for centuries. You get what I’m saying?”
“Are you saying…” The implication hung heavy in the air. “The files were acquired illegally?”
The gossips didn’t dare say it too
loudly, keeping their voices to
hushed murmurs. “It makes total
sense! How else could she instantly
produce the raw data but freeze up the second they ask før
signature?
“That’s despicable! This is blatant
intellectual theft!” outrage rippled
through the crowd, people suddenly rushing to defend the doctor’s
ushions
honor Does
Nocturne even
know what’s happening right now?”
“Even if she did, what could she do?” another bystander chimed in. “I bet Nocturne
is some fragile old woman. She’s probably terrified to speak out against a
billionaire.”
