Chapter 1479
[ 575 words ]
“I kissed you?”
Lorelei’s breath hitched. Thinking back to the previous night, she vaguely remembered having a dream.
In that dream, she really had kissed Harold.
Her world collapsed.
Did she actually assault Harold in her sleep?
“I…”
Lorelei wanted to explain but didn’t even know where to begin.
“I don’t remember,” she deflected, deciding to play dead. “I’m getting up.”
“Hey-“
Just as she tried to roll over, Harold suddenly pressed her back into the mattress. His dark eyes locked onto hers fiercely. “Trying to run after doing something bad?”
Lorelei felt herself sinking into the whirlpool of his gaze. She clenched her fists, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
“I didn’t mean to,” she bit her lip, trying to explain. “I’ll apologize, okay?”
“If apologies worked, what would we need the cops for?”
Lorelei furrowed her brow.
They weren’t even divorced yet. So what if she accidentally kissed him?!
“I’ll put it on your tab. You’ll have to pay it back later.” Harold tapped her delicate nose lightly with his finger.
He rolled off the bed, grabbed a fresh set of clothes, and handed them to her. “I’m taking a shower. You get dressed first.”
Lorelei sat on the bed, listening to the sound of running water from the bathroom.
She touched the spot on her nose where he had just tapped her, her mind an absolute mess.
This couldn’t be a hallucination.
At the dining table.
Everyone ate quietly, occasionally glancing across the table at the two of them.
Especially Luella. The terrible idea of giving them that specific nightgown was hers. She considered herself an ‘expert’ in the game of love. Whether man or woman, she only needed to chat with them for a few minutes to read their character. Let alone their love lives.
The way these two were acting screamed: they like each other, but they’re being unbelievably awkward about it.
Why hadn’t the catalyst worked?
Ugh! Two absolute wooden blocks!
Right before they left.
Jimmie pulled Harold aside and
asked in a low voice, “What’s your et

“Does she?”
Harold looked over at Lorelei, who

chatter. His gaze darkened. “She won’t even look me in the eye.”
“Yeah.”
Jimmie nodded, speaking with firm confidence. “Both Luella and Juniper say she has feelings for you.”
“She likes Joel,” Harold said quietly. “I have no confidence here.”
The closer they got to the divorce deadline, the more terrified he became.
He was terrified that despite all his efforts, Lorelei would still choose Joel Garner. “What are you so scared of?”
Juniper strolled over, a lollipop in her mouth, her tone completely nonchalant. “I have a foolproof solution.”
Harold looked at her in confusion. “What is it?”
“I’ll get
Junio guys to take out Joel.”
Juniper said the words with a breezy
slowness. “Once he’s gone, noy

Harold’s face darkened instantly.
“What kind of nonsense is that?” Jimmie sighed helplessly. “We are not doing anything illegal.”
“Harold, if you have zero confidence, how do you expect to win your wife back?”
Juniper rolled the lollipop over her red lips and murmured, “A man this insecure… let alone Lorelei, even I wouldn’t like you.”
Harold listened in silence, his emotions completely tangled.
“Do you know how Jimmie managed to win Luella’s heart, disregarding everything?”
Shanley walked up, clapping Harold on the shoulder and speaking softly.
“What terrible idea do you have?”
Harold looked up at Shanley and muttered.
“When necessary, a little physical suffering can make a girl’s heart ache for you.” Shanley lowered his voice. “Just keep it within reason. Don’t actually kill yourself.”
