Chapter 1489
[ 610 words ]
“Dr. Houston, my rates are exorbitant. Just grab an intern from Binary Oracle for something like this, okay?”
“It’s urgent. It involves your sister-in-law.”
“Fine.” Juniper immediately rolled out of bed, fired up her laptop, and got straight to work.
In less than five minutes, the fully recovered security data was sent directly to Harold’s phone.
Harold didn’t miss a beat. He cast the video directly onto the venue’s massive display screen.
The footage of the swimming pool played out in front of everyone’s eyes.
It started with Joel’s appearance. The two engaged in a conversation with very clear boundaries.
From start to finish, they were perfectly polite, without a single line crossed.
Then came Sienna…
Not only did she hurl insults at Lorelei, calling her a soon-to-be discarded wife, but she also accused her of seducing people.
Lorelei, maintaining her class, simply ignored it.
The moment she turned her back.
Sienna suddenly lunged forward, grabbed Lorelei’s arm, and shoved her violently into the pool.
“Oh my god.”
Gasps echoed through the crowd. “Ms. Vaughn is vicious! Knowing full well Mrs. Houston can’t swim, that’s literally attempted murder!”
“Weren’t they just arguing that Mrs. Houston fell in on her own? The proof is right there, why so quiet now?”
“Mom!” Watching the crystal-clear, fully restored video, Sienna whipped around to stare at her mother, panic lacing her voice. “What’s going on? Didn’t you pay someone to delete it?”
“I thought so.” Victoria kept her voice low, even more panicked than her daughter. “How did this happen? Where did he get this video?”
“Call the police.”
Harold had zero interest in dragging this out with people like them. The officers would handle it by the book.
Attempted murder, malicious defamation…
He wouldn’t forgive a single one of those charges.
“She didn’t do it on purpose.” Hearing the word ‘police,’ Victoria was suddenly
terrified. She stammered, “It was just a joke between friends. Do we really need to involve the authorities?”
Harold raised an eyebrow. “Are you friends with her?”
Lorelei replied, “No.”
“I have nothing more to say to you.
don’t accept apologies, there
no settlement, and the police will det
handle the rest.”
Harold then turned to Mr. Landon, his voice steady. “I apologize for the spectacle at your golden anniversary party.”
Mr. Landon forced a smile, though it looked terribly strained.
“Also, let me clear one thing up. My wife will never be a ‘discarded’ anything.”
Harold gripped Lorelei’s hand, his voice resonant and firm. “Not in the past, not now, and not ever.”
“Anyone who dares spread rumors of our divorce again will see me in court.”
Lorelei stared at him in utter shock. Did he mean they really weren’t going to divorce?
“Oh, right.”
Harold shifted his gaze, landing
squarely on Joel’s devastated face. “Mr. Garner is well-versed in family
law. If anyone slanders us in the future, my wife and will be sure to enfist your services.”
Joel opened his mouth, but no words came out.
Before the couple departed.
The police arrived perfectly on time. After getting a quick rundown of the situation,
they moved in to make the arrest.
“I’m not going! I’m not going!” Sienna struggled wildly in pure terror.
Her temper flared, and she even tried to strike one of the officers.
They didn’t waste time indulging her. They cuffed her on the spot and dragged her out.
Victoria followed, wailing hysterically.
Watching them leave, Lexi clenched her fists tight, a chilling malice seeping into her eyes.
Back in the car.
Harold leaned in, fastening the seatbelt for a still-dazed Lorelei.
“So, Mrs. Houston, how exactly do you plan on seducing me?”
“You…”
Lorelei took a sharp breath, her cheeks flushing completely red, the words catching
in her throat.
“You don’t need to try very hard, really.” Harold leaned in a fraction closer almost brushing against the tip of her nose, his voice utterly magnetic. “Just curl a finger and I’ll come right to you.”
