Chapter 1491

“Indifferent?”
Harold stood right where he was, his posture relaxing slightly as a helpless chuckle escaped his throat. He spoke slowly, “Father, I’m madly in love with her.”
Faulkner’s eyes widened, staring at his son in pure disbelief.
An indiscernible amount of time passed.
Harold and Faulkner finally emerged from the study, one after the other.
Faulkner gave Lorelei a long, meaningful look before saying gently, “The family’s legal team will handle the mess with the Vaughns. You’ve had quite a shock; just focus on resting for the next few days.”
“I will.”
Lorelei nodded. She wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but her father-in-law’s attitude toward her seemed remarkably softer.
“We still need to go see Eleanor,” Harold said, stepping forward and naturally slipping an arm around Lorelei’s waist. “We won’t be staying for dinner tonight.”
“Alright.”
Faulkner nodded, watching them leave.
“What did you say to Harold?” Noemi asked anxiously.
“I told them to get a divorce,” Faulkner replied. “But the kid said no. He said he loves his wife.”
“Ah-“
Noemi let out a squeal, almost losing her footing. “Harold said he likes Lori? Wasn’t the rumor that he already had someone else in his heart?”
“If I’m not mistaken, the woman in his heart *is* Lorelei.”
“Then why didn’t he ever say anything?” Noemi clutched her chest, trying to steady her racing heart. “I always assumed he was pining over someone else entirely.”
“Hmph.”
Faulkner clasped his hands behind his back and remarked dryly, “The boy doesn’t know how to communicate.”
Leaving the Houston estate.
The couple headed toward the Bellamy family residence.
Knowing Harold was coming, Lexi had spent hours meticulously dolling herself up.
“Who knows what kind of spell that little bitch cast on Harold in Eclara City this time.”
Greta, wearing immaculate makeup, couldn’t hide the vicious glint in her eyes.
The news of Harold aggressively defending his wife had already spread like wildfire across Australis.
“Harold even said he won’t divorce her,” Lexi’s eyes turned red. “If he doesn’t kick her to the curb, how am I supposed to marry him?”
“Relax, Mom will figure something out for you.” Greta said fiercely. “The position of Mrs. Houston belongs to you by right.”
Just as she finished speaking.
A maid hurried into the room. “Miss Lorelei and her husband are back.”
Lexi immediately jumped to her feet, smoothing down her dress.
“He said they’re pressed for time, so they won’t be coming over to this wing,” the maid added.
“What!”
The triumphant smile vanished from Lexi’s face. Had she wasted all that time getting dressed up for nothing?!
“I’m going to go see Grandma.” Lexi huffed, stomping toward the back courtyard in her heels.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Tanner walked in, practically colliding with the fuming Lexi. His gaze turned icy. “You think you’re innocent in that swimming pool incident?”
“What did I do wrong?” Lexi retorted.
“Slandering Lorelei and Joel right in front of Sienna. If she decides to drag you down with her, do you honestly think Harold with let you off the hook?” FindNovel.net
Tanner loosened his tie, his eyes cold. “From the looks of it, Sienna is facing three years in prison. What about you? How many years do you want?”
Lexi stood frozen, finally feeling a sliver of real fear.
“And another thing.”
Tanner yanked his tie completely off, his expression intensely serious as he enunciated every word. “Harold isn’t going to divorce Lorelei. You’d better drop that fantasy fight now
“Why wouldn’t he?”
Lexi went pale, her voice shrill with denial. “He doesn’t even like her!”
“Is that so?”
Tanner’s lips twitched, a faint scoff escaping his throat. “From where I’m standing, he’s absolutely obsessed.”
