Chapter 1561
[ 644 words ]
This girl had always been the type to bottle things up. If she didn’t volunteer the information, no one could pry her mouth open.
Whatever.
Melvin was coming back in two days anyway.
He was full of tricks; he could figure out how to coax her himself.
Janet and Juniper parted ways at the campus entrance.
The two headed in opposite directions, toward the School of Computer Science and the School of Law, respectively.
She hadn’t walked far.
When Janet suddenly noticed the female students around her sneaking glances in her direction.
They would huddle together, whispering God-knows-what, their eyes filled with a mix of shock and blatant disdain.
Janet didn’t understand what was going on, but she was so physically and mentally exhausted lately that she couldn’t be bothered to care.
She hurried into her classroom.
The moment she walked through the door, the previously noisy room fell dead silent. Everyone stared at her in bewilderment, only looking away a beat later.
Janet pursed her lips. What in the world was going on?
She only had one large lecture class today.
After class ended.
Janet went straight to the library to research for her papers, staying there until nightfall.
By the time she emerged, the sky was already dark.
She received a text message from Melvin: [I’m flying back to Eclara City tomorrow afternoon. I brought you a gift.]
Janet read the sentence over and over, thought for a moment, and replied: [Did you bring one for Juniper too?]
Melvin: [Of course. I didn’t leave anyone out.]
Janet felt a sting in her nose.
Why did he bring her one?
Because he viewed her the exact same way he viewed Juniper—as a “little sister.”
Melvin: [I’ll drop it off to you tomorrow.]
Janet: [Just give it to Juniper to pass along. Thank you, Mr. Steele.]
Another sleepless night.
The next day.
Sporting dark circles under her eyes, Janet attended her 8:00 AM class.
Her classmates silently stole glances at her, their expressions just as weird as the day before.
“What’s wrong with everyone?”
Janet put down her backpack and
asked the girl sitting next to her “Do
I look strange or something? Why
does everyone keep staring at me?”
“Uh.”
The classmate touched her hair, leaned in close, and whispered carefully, “Janet, haven’t you checked the school forum?”
“Forum?”
Janet never paid attention to that kind of stuff. She looked thoroughly confused.

Not daring to say too much, the classmate pulled out her phone and tapped into the
Law School section of the university forum.
Sitting at the very top of the trending list, complete with a “hot” flame icon, was a glaring headline.
[Eclara Law School’s talented Janet Wilcox caught two-timing!]
?
Janet froze for several seconds before immediately snatching the phone from her hands.
She clicked on the thread.
Of the two “guys” mentioned, one was Kian.
The other was just a photograph with the face blurred out.
In the photo.
Janet was being held in a man’s arms, excitedly looking off into the distance.
Although the surrounding environment and the man’s entire silhouette were completely blurred out, Janet’s face was vividly clear.
You couldn’t see the man.
But the atmosphere undeniably screamed romance.
Janet’s fingers trembled, every ounce of color draining from her face until it was as pale as paper.
Who took this picture?
Scrolling further down.
The comments section already had thousands of replies.
[Reply 1: Wasn’t Janet dating Kian from our department? How is she tangled up with another guy?]
[Reply 2: Right? They were always together, and Kian brought her breakfast every day. It was so sweet.]
[Reply 3: You really can’t judge a
book by its cover. Some people look but
totally innocent on the outsidek
are actually manipulative as hell.]
[Reply 4: Stringing Kian along while getting hot and heavy with some other guy. Absolutely disgusting.]
[Reply 5: Judging by the other guy’s clothes, he looks wealthy.]
[Reply 6: Wait, I heard that guy actually has a wife. Is Janet throwing herself at him
to be the other woman?]
[Reply 7: User above knows the truth?! Spill the tea!]
[And below, a massive chain of people typing “+1′′]
