Chapter 1594
[ 617 words ]
A week later.
Thanks to the meticulous, round-the-clock care provided by over a dozen top doctors from Subterra Vanguard and Liberty Island.
Celine’s recovery was remarkably smooth. She could now get out of bed and walk slowly around the room.
She could even visit the nursery to watch little Arthur get his baths.
“It’s Auntie,” Celine cooed over the pink, chubby baby in the crib. “When you grow up, you have to protect Auntie, okay?”
“Goo-“
Arthur stared up with wide, bright eyes. His tiny hands reached toward Juniper as he blew a little saliva bubble, babbling in a baby language no one could decipher.
Celine asked, “What is he saying?”
Juniper replied, “He said yes.”
Celine blinked. “Makes sense.”
Juniper reached out and gently tapped his tiny fist. “Auntie agrees.”
When he grew up, he was going to make a fortune and spoil her rotten.
…
Warren returned after preparing a bottle of formula.
Watching the two sisters hovering around the baby, their faces radiant with joy, his heart felt completely full.
“What do you think?” Warren didn’t step in to ruin the moment. Instead, he turned to the man standing nearby with a solemn expression. “Are you two going to have one after Juniper graduates?”
“Do you prefer a boy or a girl?” Warren added thoughtfully. “I always wanted a daughter, but I got this little guy instead. I’ve made peace with it, though. As long as he’s Celine’s, I’m happy.”
Shanley’s brow furrowed slightly. He parted his lips and said slowly, “We aren’t planning on having kids.”
“What?”
Warren was taken aback for a moment, turning to stare at Shanley. “You’re planning to be child-free?”
“Mhm.”
Shanley nodded, his expression completely serious. “As for raising someone, taking care of her is enough for me.”
He’d treat her like the most cherished child and spoil her for the rest of her life. “Did what happened with Celine scare you?” Warren could somewhat understand. When Celine was in the operating room, bleeding heavily and fighting for her life. He had spent those agonizing hours drowning in regret, thinking that if they just didn’t have kids, Celine would never have had to suffer like this.
“It terrified me.” Shanley picked up a tangerine and slowly began peeling it, his expression grave. “So, I’ve decided not to have children.”
Warren nodded in understanding. Shanley’s love for Juniper was far deeper than he had ever imagined.
“If Juniper ever wants to play with a kid, can we borrow yours?”
Shanley picked up a glass of water and handed it to Warren, his gaze completely sincere.
“Hm?”
Warren took the glass, meeting
Shapley’s eyes with a faint smile
Borrow him anytime. He’s a boy, You won’t break him.”
hen
“Pleasure doing business with you.” Shanley offered a satisfied smirk, clinking his
glass against Warren’s.
Warren echoed, “Pleasure doing business.”
Baby Arthur: “?”
Three months later.
Celine’s little guy could now roll over on the playmat.
Though still adorably chubby, he was incredibly fair, and his big round eyes sparkled like stars.
The little one was quite two-faced.
Wheneve
he saw someone he
erupt into endless giggles.
liked especially Juniper Cont
But if it was someone he didn’t like…
Take Melvin, for example. Arthur would stare at him blankly and occasionally kick him with his chubby little legs.
No one understood why until they caught Melvin whispering in Arthur’s ear: “Be a good boy and come home. with Uncle Melvin, so your mom and dad can have another one.
Openly trying to kidnap a baby?
Celine firmly believed he got off far too easy with just a kick.
After a chaotic day.
Arthur’s three-month milestone celebration finally came to an end.
Back in their room.
Shanley went to the bathroom to shower while Juniper lounged on the sofa, chatting on the phone with Tucker.
In mid-March.
There was an International Collegiate Computing Innovation Competition, and
Tucker wanted Juniper to participate.
“Me?”
Juniper blinked, her lips curving slightly. “If I enter, what’s the point of the competition?”
