Chapter 164
“Grandpa Zhang, Grandma Wang, rest assured, I won’t feel embarrassed, especially not to you,” Su Xiaoxiao said, her words becoming even more sincere, without any pretense. After all, the person most likely to cause them trouble was certainly Peng Huijing. She knew that if she and Jiang Yexun tried to stop her, it would be like a fly trying to break a rock, and ultimately, they would have to rely on these two old people to help out.
Su Xiaoxiao saw them off at the iron fence, and they waved their hands, letting Su Xiaoxiao and Jiang Yexun sit on the platform benches.
They waited for a while to ensure that the people outside had already boarded the train and that the train had even left the station. Then, they left the train station and headed straight to the production team.
This time, however, they didn’t go to the gate of the production team but crouched outside the courtyard on a small road. They even found an abandoned alley to hide in. In that secluded little corner, there were only the two of them. This made Su Xiaoxiao, who was eager to get back at Zhang Hanyu, feel her legs go weak.
She swallowed her saliva, and the sound was loud enough that not only could she hear it, but Jiang Yexun, who was close to her, could also hear it.
The low laughter that had been trapped in his chest resonated in the back of Su Xiaoxiao’s head, causing her face to instantly burn.
“I’m just thirsty,” Su Xiaoxiao blurted out, providing a terribly lame excuse.
Jiang Yexun chuckled softly in response, without exposing her lie.
Just as he was about to take the water bottle on his back and give it to Su Xiaoxiao, the girl in his arms immediately pulled him excitedly and tugged twice.
“Look, isn’t that Zhang Hanyu? Let’s go follow him!” Su Xiaoxiao said as she picked up their luggage from the ground.
Jiang Yexun quickly picked up the two bags and followed her.
Since he recently had offended Grandpa Zhang and Grandma Wang, Zhang Hanyu was no longer allowed to use even his bicycle when going out. He had to rely on crowded buses and the subway. Zhang Hanyu considered it beneath his status to use such means of transportation. Therefore, he preferred walking when going out, even if it took more time and effort.
However, this inconvenience facilitated Su Xiaoxiao’s and Jiang Yexun’s tracking.
They followed him to a dead-end alley, and Su Xiaoxiao was about to go in after him but was immediately pulled back by Jiang Yexun.
“Let’s listen first,” Jiang Yexun said silently.
Su Xiaoxiao stared at him, unable to understand what he was doing. Nevertheless, she obeyed, so she withdrew her foot. But her body was still shivering, and the sound was loud enough for Jiang Yexun, who was above her, to hear.
The man’s low laughter, trapped in his chest, reverberated in Su Xiaoxiao’s mind and made her face burn.
Su Xiaoxiao quickly and unobtrusively moved back a little, to a distance of about a meter. However, it was as if Jiang Yexun had eyes on the back of his head. He reached behind and caught her wrist.
The sensation of her body growing weak flowed out instantly, and Su Xiaoxiao’s heart nearly skipped a beat. She was worried that her symptoms had recurred, so she vigorously pulled her hand back, hoping that Jiang Yexun would ease up a bit.
However, Jiang Yexun turned his head, asking her wordlessly, “Be good, don’t stay too far away from me.”
“I’m within a meter,” Su Xiaoxiao silently responded.
She then blinked her eyes innocently, as if she feared Jiang Yexun would refuse, and moved back a bit. But Jiang Yexun had trouble controlling himself, and it took all of his willpower to release her hand reluctantly.
Su Xiaoxiao had to move back a few steps, but the throbbing sensation in her lips and the pain that had previously assaulted her tongue had brought her back to her senses.
She took a couple of steps back and then pointed to the dead-end, signaling him to listen to the sounds from inside. It was clear that Zhang Hanyu’s secretive visit to this place was no good sign.
