Chapter 183
In the last two days, they indeed received several reports. They just hadn’t expected the traffickers to be hidden within this area. Upon entering the alley, they eased their pace. But what they assumed were light footsteps failed to deceive Jiang Yexun.
Spotting him emerging from behind the cover of scattered items, the police officers were somewhat astonished. However, his gaze had already fallen upon the young girl walking towards him. After carefully confirming that Su Xiaoxiao was unharmed, Jiang Yexun quietly informed the officers, “They are still inside, not coming out.”
The officers nodded, stealthily approaching the door and gently pushing it. Upon confirming it was securely locked, they pressed their ears against it to listen. Hearing no sound, they signaled for one of them to climb the wall to take a look.
Actually, both Jiang Yexun and Su Xiaoxiao had discerned that those individuals were not in the courtyard at all. They were either inside the house or the cellar of the yard if there were one. However, they were aware that even if they mentioned this, the police would diligently verify it themselves.
The person atop the wall stayed for a few seconds, then quietly slipped down. The lead officer gestured to the others, looking towards Su Xiaoxiao and Jiang Yexun, indicating with his eyes for them to leave first. Su Xiaoxiao hesitated, but apprehending the traffickers was indeed not their responsibility.
Just as they had taken a few steps, Su Xiaoxiao and Jiang Yexun suddenly turned back. The head officer looked at them with some confusion, only to see his team members signaling that there was a situation inside. Their expressions were grave; they exchanged glances and ultimately decided that rescuing the woman was more crucial.
Several officers swiftly scaled the wall into the yard, with Jiang Yexun following. Su Xiaoxiao hurried to join but was stopped. Though she knew she wasn’t that feeble and could certainly assist, they wouldn’t believe her, and rather than being distracted to protect her. So she reluctantly stayed back.
Jiang Yexun swiftly entered. Their movements were silent. As they lifted the cover of the cellar, the distressing and despairing cries of the captive woman and child inside quickly reached their ears. Without a second thought, the officers leaped in.
The cellar wasn’t large, yet the captive women and children inside were all bound. Three traffickers swiftly pulled the young girl they were about to abuse, brandishing a spring knife against her carotid artery.
“Don’t come any closer! Back off! Otherwise, I’ll kill her,” threatened the trafficker, and not only the officers, but even Jiang Yexun did not move.
If they truly retreated, the women and children inside the cellar would become hostages of these traffickers. However, seeing death at the door, the trafficker completely lost control, intensifying the force against the girl’s neck with the knife.
“Stay calm. This won’t solve anything. If you have any demands, state them directly. Don’t harm the innocent,” the calm police captain warned.
“I told you to leave now. Can’t you understand my words?” the trafficker suddenly turned fierce, scraping the knife on the woman’s neck. The intense pain caused the woman, who was moments ago engulfed in despair, to suddenly regain her senses.
Witnessing the scene before her, without any warning, she violently lurched backward. The trafficker, with a savage intent in his eyes, raised the dagger to pierce her neck.
Yet, Jiang Yexun, already prepared at the change in the woman’s expression, acted swiftly. The candy in his hand directly smashed into the trafficker’s wrist.
