“Why did you come?” Jiang Yexun walked up to her; his tone heavy.
Su Xiaoxiao didn’t care about his attitude. She squatted down, filled a bowl with sweet pear soup, and handed it to him.
“I missed you, so I came to see you. Don’t you miss me?” she asked playfully.
He did! He missed her so much that it hurt!
Jiang Yexun clenched his teeth but didn’t answer. He just obediently took the sweet soup she offered.
After taking a sip, he asked, “Why did you make this?”
“I wanted to make it for you myself. How is it? Is it delicious?” Su Xiaoxiao held her chin with one hand and looked at him with a playful expression, like a child waiting for praise.
Jiang Yexun’s eyes sparkled with a hint of a smile. “It is,” he nodded.
But just when Su Xiaoxiao was about to feel proud, she heard him continue, “But don’t make it again in the future.”
“You don’t like it?” Su Xiaoxiao was a bit shocked. She had tasted it herself, and the auntie had enjoyed it too. The sweet soup tasted great.
“I like it, but you don’t need to make this yourself. You’ve never done it at home before, and you won’t need to since you’re with me,” Jiang Yexun said casually, clearing his throat.
Su Xiaoxiao blushed. The sweetness that had welled up in her heart almost made her dizzy.
“But I like cooking for you,” she pouted, her tone slightly coquettish.
When she looked into Jiang Yexun’s eyes, there was only him in her world.
Jiang Yexun’s heart softened. He took a few more sips of the sweet soup before saying, “Listen to me, don’t make it again.”
“You’re so mean,” Su Xiaoxiao reached out and poked Jiang Yexun’s arm. When she felt his firm muscles, her hand tingled, and she couldn’t resist gripping it. She soon noticed that his body had stiffened like a rock.
She was about to complain, but Jiang Yexun looked at her with a stern expression and said, “Behave yourself, and don’t affect the people around us.”
“Got it,” Su Xiaoxiao pouted like a little pufferfish and withdrew her hand reluctantly.
Jiang Yexun stared at her for a while with a burning gaze. Just as Su Xiaoxiao was about to compromise and retract her hand, he drank the remaining sweet soup in one gulp.
“Come down,” he placed the empty bowl in the basket and uttered two words softly.
“What?” Su Xiaoxiao raised her head, looking puzzled.
Seeing her bewildered expression, Jiang Yexun sighed helplessly. He glanced around to make sure no one was watching them and then reached out, pinching Su Xiaoxiao’s waist and lifting her down from the path.
Su Xiaoxiao’s legs hadn’t touched the ground yet, and she immediately turned weak and wanted to lean into Jiang Yexun.
Instinctively, Jiang Yexun hugged her, but when he realized that they were in the cornfield and there were kids watching, so he adjusted her position.
“Behave,” he said hoarsely.
Su Xiaoxiao looked at him with a pitiful expression, “You carried me down, and now you won’t let me hug you?”
