“Don’t even think about it! Once items are sold to the scrap station, they belong to the state. You can’t just come here and rummage through things as if you’re slicing off a piece of socialism,” Su Xiaoxiao said sternly, then turned to Jiang Yexun.
“Yexun, hurry up and call the police to arrest them. I’m sure their intentions are not pure. It’s best for the police to investigate thoroughly and not let any misguided troublemaker slip away.”
Su Xiaoxiao’s indignation was genuine. She had worked hard to get a job at the scrap station to find some bargains, only to have someone try to exploit them and take valuable items. Did they think everyone here was foolish?
“You… how dare you speak like that, you little girl?” The man stammered and tried to leave.
Before he could take more than a couple of steps, Jiang Yexun grabbed his arm and yanked him back. The man fell heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust from the dry floor.
Su Xiaoxiao covered her nose with her hand, looking disdainfully at the man who lay on the ground, moaning in pain and unable to get up. His wife, frightened, was crying loudly and trying to help him up. After several unsuccessful attempts, she sat on the ground and cried harder.
“This is awful! We accidentally sold the wrong things and now we can’t get them back and are getting beaten up.”
Su Xiaoxiao pressed her ears, her delicate brows furrowing into two small peaks. Jiang Yexun saw she was genuinely frustrated and quickly said to Su Hongchen, “I’ll go report to the police. Please keep an eye on them.”
“I’ll go instead,” Su Hongchen replied calmly. “I’ll also check on the sentencing results for those two.”
He had been mulling over the matter, worried that if he waited until tomorrow, he might miss the window for updates. This was a perfect opportunity to wrap everything up in one go.
Jiang Yexun nodded in agreement, “Okay.”
Seeing Su Hongchen actually turning to leave, the couple rushed forward and grabbed his legs. “Don’t call the police. We were wrong, we know we were wrong.”
At first, they had truly sold the wrong items and just wanted to retrieve them. Later, seeing that Jiang Xinyue was a pregnant woman who looked particularly soft-spoken, they thought they could take advantage of her. They never expected to encounter such resistance and see through their true intentions. If they had known it would be so difficult to deceive them, they wouldn’t have dared to be so unreasonable.

Su Hongchen lightly kicked the pressure points on their elbows, causing them to lose strength immediately. He then quickly left the scrap station.
The couple watched him leave, their spirits drained as if all their energy had been sucked away, and they slumped down on the ground. After a long while, they continued their desperate pleas.
Su Xiaoxiao found their noise unbearable and puffed up her cheeks, rubbing her ears.
“You and my mom, and my sister should go rest in the small room. I’ll keep an eye on these two,” Jiang Yexun said soothingly.
Su Xiaoxiao nodded and linked arms with Jiang Xinyue. “Auntie, Xinyue, it’s too cold outside. Let’s go back to the room and warm up.”
“Okay, let’s hurry back. You two are delicate and can’t be left out in the cold,” Aunt Guo agreed quickly. Her own son, however, was robust enough to handle a little cold and noise.
Back in the room, Jiang Xinyue looked worriedly at Su Xiaoxiao. “Xiaoxiao, did your brother find anything wrong with our home after he came? If he has any complaints, don’t be embarrassed to tell us directly. We’ll fix anything that needs fixing.”
Although Su Hongchen came from the military, it was clear he came from a good family. Raising two children so delicately indicated that the Su family was not only wealthy but also had substantial background, leading to higher standards than they might have imagined.
But Su Xiaoxiao smiled and shook her head. “No, my brother didn’t think there was any issue with the environment at home. The only thing might be the problems with Uncle Jiang’s family, but Yexun is handling them gradually. He’s aware of it, so there isn’t much to criticize.”
It would be unrealistic to say her brother had no issues at all. It’s better to be honest. After all, this problem would be resolved within a few years, and it wasn’t too difficult.
The most important thing was that Jiang Yexun, Aunt Guo, and Jiang Xinyue were united. They would find opportunities to sever all connections with Jiang Family. In the meantime, she would do her best to get rid of this family entirely.
