Chapter 499
The man was so scared that his face turned pale. He rolled awkwardly to the side, barely managing to dodge with his head, but still took a harsh kick to his shoulder.
Everyone watched as the man slid more than two meters backward, and all movements came to a sudden halt. They stood frozen, staring at the scene in shock.
They just wanted to beat up Su Xiaoxiao and Jiang Yexun to vent their frustrations, but they never thought they would be putting their lives at risk. But after seeing how fiercely the girl fought, they were all terrified.
That last kick aimed directly at his head was enough to make anyone’s scalp tingle with fear. If he hadn’t dodged in time, that kick could have shattered his skull.
“Are you crazy?! Do you want to kill someone?!” They backed away two steps, too frightened to continue fighting.
Su Xiaoxiao finally stepped out from behind Jiang Yexun, then tilted her head innocently at them.
“Well, when you guys attacked the two of us, if we managed to get our hands on one of you, of course we would strike hard. If we didn’t, and you got the chance to recover and retaliate, we’d be finished. And even if this went to the police, I believe the officers wouldn’t see our defense as problematic,” she said with an air of nonchalance.
“Crazy! You’re a psycho!” They were furious and trembling, their bodies shaking with fear.
But Su Xiaoxiao didn’t even seem angry. Instead, she flashed a wicked grin.
“You only just realized? If I wasn’t crazy, how could I have dared to gamble with you just now? And why would I have insisted that you withdraw from the exams? Do you think I didn’t know you might seek revenge afterward? The truth is, I’m not afraid of your retaliation—I actually wanted to give you another lesson, so that’s why I did what I did.”
“Now that you know, what are you going to do? Do you dare report us to the police?”
“Alright! You’re ruthless! We can’t win against you, so we’ll swallow our pride! But we’ll see how someone like you, who doesn’t know when to back down, will cry when you finally run into a real wall.” They pointed at Su Xiaoxiao, gritting their teeth as they spat their venomous words.
Su Xiaoxiao simply didn’t take them seriously. With an indifferent shrug, she said, “Don’t worry, you’ll never live to see that day.”
The men, unwilling to continue bickering with her, realized that arguing any further was just humiliating themselves. They snorted and walked away, leaving the alley.
Su Xiaoxiao watched them leave until they disappeared from view, then turned and grabbed Jiang Yexun’s hand, holding it up to her face.
“Did your hand hurt when you fought those people just now?” she asked with concern.
Jiang Yexun furrowed his brow, feeling that something was off with her question. But the thought passed quickly, and in the next second, he smiled gently, his eyes warm as he reassured her, “Don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt. They’re no match for the beasts in the mountains.”
Su Xiaoxiao finally relaxed.
Just as she was about to pull her hand away, Jiang Yexun wrapped his large, warm hand around her soft, delicate one, holding it firmly.
“Let’s go, we should head home,” he said softly.
Su Xiaoxiao happily wrapped her arm around his, and the two of them began walking away.
“Yexun, do you think they’ll come after us again after what happened just now?” Su Xiaoxiao asked, her voice tinged with concern.
“No, they won’t. If they wanted to, they would’ve surrounded us already. This was the best revenge they could muster,” Jiang Yexun said, a mocking glint in his eyes as he recalled the encounter.
