Chapter 53
Jiang Yexun returned to the production team, and it was already past midnight. Despite having slept little in the past two days, his thoughts were filled with the young girl. So he quietly returned the bicycle to Zhang Tiewa’s house and made his way to the educated youth dormitory.
Although he knew he wouldn’t see his sweetheart, being closer to her made him feel content. Just as he arrived near the wall, he heard a sound from inside the courtyard, as if someone was opening a door.
Afraid of being discovered, Jiang Yexun thought about leaving. However, he heard the person inside accidentally bump into something, followed by a painful groan and angry curses.
The familiar voice and the mentioned name instantly darkened Jiang Yexun’s face. He quietly retrieved the contents from a sack and climbed over the wall. While the person was still using the restroom, Jiang Yexun used a swift chop to the back of his neck.
Carrying the person bundled in a sack, Jiang Yexun took him out of the educated youth dormitory and into a small forest. He proceeded to beat him up for a while. The person inside the sack woke up midway but was swiftly knocked unconscious again by Jiang Yexun. It wasn’t until continuing the beating would put the person’s life in danger that Jiang Yexun stopped and carried him back to the educated youth dormitory. He then tossed him into a pit latrine.
Underneath the pit latrine was a half-height barrel, and most of the person’s body was submerged in it, but his head remained above. To ensure that the person wouldn’t drown in feces and urine, Jiang Yexun took these precautions before cleaning up any traces he left behind.
After reassembling the items, he discreetly returned home. The next morning, a piercing scream shattered the peaceful atmosphere of the educated youth dormitory.
Everyone was frightened and rushed outside to see a male educated youth standing near the pit latrine with a terrified expression.
“Pan… Pan Yongsheng, how did you end up in the pit latrine?”
What an unexpected turn of events!
Su Xiaoxiao excitedly ran out, but she found a crowd of youth had already gathered, making it difficult for her to see clearly. She tiptoed to catch a glimpse of the man partially submerged in the pit latrine. His face, and even his mouth, were covered in unspeakable filth. This sight triggered a chorus of gagging sounds.
While Su Xiaoxiao was pleased to see those two scoundrels in such a pitiful state, the sight was a bit too extreme for her to handle. At least for now, she felt no satisfaction from it. All she could think of was that she wouldn’t eat breakfast this morning.
Su Xiaoxiao looked around and realized, to her surprise, that Dong Jiaxuan was nowhere to be seen. Had she given up on Pan Yongsheng because she felt she wasn’t worthy of him?
“Now what should we do? Should we wake up Educated Youth Pan?” someone whispered.
However, no one responded for quite some time.
“Aren’t Educated Youth Pan and Educated Youth Dong together? This kind of thing should be handled by her,” Su Xiaoxiao added, trying to stir things up.
“Given the commotion, she still hasn’t woken up. Maybe we should forget it,” someone suggested.
After one night, everyone in the educated youth dormitory had heard about what happened to Dong Jiaxuan. They wouldn’t speak about it outside to avoid becoming a source of amusement for the production team leaders. Others followed Su Xiaoxiao’s lead and then found a long stick to poke Pan Yongsheng while he was still in the pit.
“Pan Yongsheng, wake up!” a male educated youth called out anxiously, holding his breath. However, the sight was too grotesque, and he couldn’t help covering his mouth and nose.
Fortunately, Pan Yongsheng finally stirred, although he hadn’t even opened his eyes yet. The stench surrounding him almost made him pass out again. As he tried to speak, some of the filth on his face inevitably fell into his mouth and nose.
He couldn’t help but retch, and after suppressing the urge, he attempted to crawl out of the pit. However, the pain from his injuries made him fall back down.
“Help me up,” Pan Yongsheng, suppressing his nausea, pleaded with the people outside the latrine.
But one person immediately refused without much thought, infuriating Pan Yongsheng to the point where his face contorted with anger.
Seeing their interactions, Su Xiaoxiao decided she didn’t want to witness the spectacle any longer. She didn’t want to risk developing psychological trauma from such a disturbing scene.
She shook her head and hastily left, only to encounter Jiang Yexun as she stepped out of the educated youth dormitory. He was carrying a basket with breakfast.
Seeing the anxious expression on the young girl’s face, his own expression darkened, and he hurried over to her.
Su Xiaoxiao gestured to him to leave. “Let’s go quickly.”
Jiang Yexun raised an eyebrow in confusion and stood still. He waited until the young girl had come closer, stopping about a meter away from him before he asked with concern, “The educated youth dormitory sounds quite lively. Aren’t you curious to see what’s happening?”
“Pan Yongsheng accidentally fell into the pit latrine. I’d rather not witness such a disgusting spectacle,” Su Xiaoxiao said with a hint of annoyance.
Jiang Yexun was momentarily taken aback. He looked at the young girl, who seemed dejected, with her head hanging down, and he nervously touched his nose.
“Well, that person seems quite useless if he managed to fall into a pit latrine while going to the bathroom,” Jiang Yexun quickly added with a feigned expression of disdain.
Su Xiaoxiao nodded in agreement at first but then gave him a skeptical look.
“Brother Yexun, you’re acting a bit strange.”
“Do you think so?” Jiang Yexun replied with a hint of evasion in his tone. However, the young girl’s clear, bright eyes were fixed on him, and he couldn’t hold back any longer. He had to confess.
“He brought it upon himself! I promise not to gross you out next time,” Jiang Yexun gritted his teeth and reflected, trying to sound fierce.
But Su Xiaoxiao’s focus wasn’t on that matter.
“Why did you go to the educated youth dormitory last night? Did you miss me?” Su Xiaoxiao tiptoed, leaning slightly closer to him.
The faint fragrance in the air made her feel tingly all over. It hadn’t reached the point where she couldn’t control herself, but it was as if she had just inhaled some catnip, leaving her feeling both physically and mentally pleased.
