Su Xiaoxiao’s eyes instantly lit up.
However, not knowing exactly what was going on, she quickly suppressed the excitement in her heart and looked over at Jiang Yexun.
Jiang Yexun had clearly recognized what was happening as well, and he straightened his posture even more.
Soon, the two military jeeps came to a stop beside them.
As the people in the jeeps got out, they walked directly to the Peng family, their movements purposeful.
“Hu Hongxiu, Cheng Qiuxian, Gong Ling, Peng Shufeng, Peng Baojie, you five, please come with us,” the leader of the group said coldly, addressing the Peng family.
Granny Hu was startled and immediately rushed to shield her son and daughter-in-law, almost like a hen protecting its chicks.
“Who are you people? What right do you have to make us leave with you?” Granny Hu demanded, her tone full of aggression.
But if one listened closely, it was easy to hear the hint of unease in her voice.
One of the officers pulled out an identification card and thrust it in front of the Peng family.
Upon seeing it, they all immediately clamped their mouths shut, like ducks with their necks pinched.
It was easy to guess what kind of identification it was.

If this family really had something to hide, how could they come here and stir up trouble without even properly covering their tracks?

Upon hearing this, Grandma Wang was so angry that she almost pinched him hard.
But when she saw Su Xiaoxiao and Jiang Yexun standing nearby, she managed to restrain herself.
As soon as they were home, though, she was planning to drag her old man into the room for a proper talking-to.
Su Xiaoxiao looked at the Peng family’s retreating figures, worry creeping into her thoughts as she asked, “Yexun, do you think Grandma Wang has figured something out?”
Jiang Yexun sighed, looking equally helpless. “She’s probably started to suspect something, but she wouldn’t be sure. Still, she’ll likely have someone investigate it.”
Who would have expected things to take such an unexpected turn?
Even though Grandpa Zhang and Zhang Zhiyuan had seen her brother at the national martial arts competition, there had been so many people there that it was hard to pay attention to faces. Besides, no one had expected things to go this far.

Meanwhile, back in the room, Grandma Wang was still glaring at Grandpa Zhang, unloading her suspicions.
“Don’t you think the person leading them just now looked a bit familiar?” Grandma Wang asked sternly, eyes locked on her husband.
Grandpa Zhang grinned, “Of course he looked familiar. I already told you, that’s Xiaoxiao’s older brother. They do look a bit alike, don’t they?”
“He can’t be Xiaoxiao’s brother!” Grandma Wang’s heart dropped at those words.
But after thinking carefully, she still believed that her original guess was more likely to be correct.
Even if she wasn’t entirely certain, this was the only hope she had, and she wasn’t ready to let it go.
“I’m asking you, don’t you think he looks like Jingyou’s grandmother?” Grandma Wang’s face was stern as she asked, her tone serious.
Grandpa Zhang immediately denied it, “Where’s the resemblance? That Hu Hongxiu looks sharp and mean.”
“Who said anything about Hu Hongxiu? I’m talking about his real grandmother!” Grandma Wang snapped, pinching Grandpa Zhang’s arm angrily.
“Huh?” Grandpa Zhang winced, confused.
He lowered his head and thought it over carefully. After a while, he realized that his wife might be right.
His expression instantly turned serious.
“Could this really be such a coincidence? Or could it be that Xiaoxiao and the others already knew?” Grandpa Zhang murmured, doubt creeping into his voice.
“It’s impossible. Xiaoxiao knows how much we’ve been hoping to find Jingyou,” Grandma Wang immediately refuted.
But Grandpa Zhang said, “It’s also possible that Xiaoxiao don’t trust us. After all, with the way our two kids turned out, they might suspect that our family’s morals are off, and think that we’re faking kindness.”
Grandma Wang was stunned by this remark. She knew her children needed to be taught properly.
If they weren’t raised well, the whole family would have no chance to hold their heads high in front of others.
