Chapter 743
Vesta nodded.
Thorne slid into the car.
The vehicle slowly pulled away from the curb.
Irma had immediately noticed Jasmine’s absence at the hospital.
However, she had been too blinded by rage at the time to interrogate Thorne about
it.
Today was her grandfather’s discharge day, and it was a Saturday. Logically,
Jasmine should have been there.
The only reason the little girl would be missing was likely because-
Sitting in the moving car, the thought reignited Irma’s fury. She turned to Thorne with
a livid expression. “Did you intentionally keep Jasmine in the dark about her grandfather’s discharge just so you could bring her along p>
Thorne remained perfectly calm. “Jasmine is competing in the Fencing Open Championship. It was scheduled a long time ago p>
Irma faltered for a second.
But she quickly scoffed. “If Jasmine were here today, things probably would have played out exactly as you wanted p>
She said this because she knew she wouldn’t have been able to lay into Vesta in front of her great-granddaughter. If Jasmine had defended Vesta, Irma would have been forced to swallow her anger and save the argument for behind closed doors.
In that scenario, Vesta might have actually succeeded in coming back to the Henderson estate with them.
Before Thorne could respond, a sudden realization hit Irma. “Wait, if Jasmine is at her championship today, did Charlene take her p>
“Yes,” Thorne confirmed.
Irma took a sharp breath. “So Charlene is busy taking care of your daughter at a competition and couldn’t be here to welcome your father home, and you used that exact opportunity to parade that woman through the hospital? You p>
Before she could finish her tirade, Thorne’s phone began to ring.
He glanced at the screen and held it up. “Let me take this. You can finish yelling at me afterward p>
Irma was left absolutely speechless.
Meanwhile.
Vesta watched the Henderson family car disappear down the street. Just as she was about to get into her own vehicle, she turned and spotted Stewart Ferguson standing a short distance away.
She froze, realizing he must have witnessed her entire interaction with the Hendersons.
Curling her lips into a polite smile, she greeted him. “Mr. Ferguson p>
Stewart merely sneered in response, completely ignoring her as he turned and got into his car.
Once inside, he immediately dialed Charlene’s number. “What are you up to?” “Taking Minnie to the Fencing Open Championship,” Charlene replied.
Stewart let out a harsh, disbelieving laugh. “Secretary Henderson got discharged today p>
“Yes,” Charlene said. Pausing for a second, she asked, “Did you run into them p>
“Yeah. Vesta Hawkins was there too,” Stewart scoffed. “You’re off taking care of his kid at a
tournament and Thorne uses the chance to bring his little sidepiece to
the hospital for his father’s
о
discharge. He’s really something else p>
In truth, the moment Stewart mentioned seeing Thorne, Charlene had guessed
Vesta was in the picture.
Otherwise, Stewart wouldn’t have gone out of his way to call her.
Before Charlene could say anything, Stewart continued, “And from the looks of it, if Irma hadn’t looked
ready to commit murder, Thornen et
was probably planning on dragging Vesta right back to the estate for a cozy family dinner p>
“Yeah,” Charlene said calmly. “That’s their business p>
It was bound to happen sooner or later anyway.
Stewart completely understood the silent implication behind her words.
He just couldn’t stomach the sheer injustice of it all on her behalf.
“Especially since you just agreed to delay the divorce as a favor to Irma, and then
he turns around and pulls a stunt like this p>
Just thinking about it made his blood boil.
