Charlene read through the messages and took a deep breath. Tomorrow was the last day of their current deliberation period.

Thinking back, the only reason he had stayed in Starfall so often this year was because of Vesta. Because Vesta had come to the city. That was why, for the first time in nearly a decade, he hadn’t been constantly jetting off to some other corner of the world.

But she kept these thoughts to herself.
