Chapter 876
“Are you sure?” Thorne Henderson asked. “Don’t you want to see your mom?”
Jasmine Henderson looked away. “I’ll contact her myself if I want to see her. I don’t need you to set it up.”
Thorne looked at her, about to speak, when Jasmine’s phone started ringing.
It was Charlene Ross calling.
Jasmine stared at the screen for a couple of seconds before picking up. “Mom.”
“Hey, it’s me,” Charlene said on the other end of the line. “Do you want to come over and spend Thanksgiving Day with me?”
Jasmine hadn’t been very affectionate lately, so Charlene wasn’t sure if her daughter would be willing to go back to the Ross family for the holiday, but she had to ask
anyway.
Jasmine hesitated for a moment before replying, “I’m not sure. Let me ask Dad later, and I’ll let you know.”
“Alright,” Charlene said. “Just let me know once you decide.”
“Okay, I will. Bye, Mom,” Jasmine said.
“…Bye.”
After Charlene’s voice faded, Jasmine hung up.
The car was quiet. Thorne had heard almost every word of their conversation. “It’s up to you,” he said.
He meant that he was fine with whatever she chose-whether she wanted to spend it with Charlene, with him, or if the three of them spent it together.
In the past, hearing Thorne say that would have guaranteed Jasmine picking the last option. Now, however, she simply asked, “If I don’t go to Great-Grandma Helena’s for Thanksgiving Day, what are your plans?”
“I’ll head back to the main house to spend it with Great-Grandma.”
“Oh.” Jasmine didn’t press further.
Once they got home, Jasmine still had things to do. As they headed upstairs, Thorne told her, “Get some rest early.”
Jasmine ignored him, walking straight into her room and shutting the door.
The next day, after dropping Jasmine off at school, Thorne headed straight to the office.
Coy and Josh arrived right on time to give him the company updates.
After listening to their report and handing out his instructions, Thorne noticed Coy was still standing there. Without looking up, he asked, “Is there something else?”
Neither he nor Josh had dared to mention that Vesta Hawkins had come by looking for him several times. They both knew perfectly well that Vestà must have been blowing up Thorne’s phone with texts anyway. FindNovel.net

He hesitated for a second before saying, “No, that’s all.”
“Alright. You’re dismissed.”
“Yes, boss.”
Meanwhile.
The moment Coy stepped out of Thorne’s office, his phone buzzed.
It was a text from Vesta.
*Is he back?*
Coy read the message but didn’t reply.
Vesta had been reaching out to him sporadically over the past few days, asking about Therne’s whereabouts. but he hadn’t responded to a single message.
On the other side of town, Vesta hadn’t left the house yet. Seeing no reply, she set her phone down.
Maureen Spencer turned to Katie Hawkins. “Mom, you should give Jacques a call later. Tell him to come home for Thanksgiving dinner.”
Jacques had started the new school term a few days ago.
He had switched from being a day student to boarding on campus.
Lately, he had barely been in touch with the family.
“Alright, I’ll call him in a bit,” Katie agreed.
Throughout the entire time Thorne had been away on his business trip, Vesta had
tried to contact him, but she was met with nothing but radio silence.
The situation was making the Hawkins family and the Spencers increasingly anxious.
They were starting to seriously doubt that Thorne was just keeping a low profile and letting the heat die down.
They were torn on whether they should even keep waiting for him to respond.
If Thorne really intended to wash his hands of them, filing for bankruptcy protection early would be a much better move than just sitting around waiting like sitting ducks
But they simply weren’t willing to give up just yet.
