On Sunday afternoon, Jasmine called to say she wanted to come over. Remembering the promise she’d made to Jasmine earlier, Charlene agreed.

She’d taken pictures, too. As Charlene mentioned the idea, Jasmine eagerly pulled out her phone and showed her a photo of the frame. “Isn’t it gorgeous?”
Charlene glanced at the image. Even through the photo, she could tell Thorne had spared no expense in having the frame made for Jasmine.
Thorne had quietly arranged everything in advance. It was clear how much care he put into Jasmine’s happiness.
Even though Jasmine already had a frame for her trophy, she was still delighted by how much Charlene valued her achievement.
That night, Jasmine stayed over at the Ross family’s house.
The next morning, Charlene slipped her documents into her purse. Jasmine glanced over and caught a glimpse of them, but she was still too young to understand and didn’t ask any questions.
Looking into Jasmine’s bright, innocent eyes, Charlene realized Thorne still hadn’t told her about the divorce.

Charlene stood up to leave just as Thorne’s phone rang.
He had been about to leave as well, but paused to answer the call, slowing his steps.
Charlene walked ahead, but she still caught snippets of his conversation.
“It went smoothly, we’re finished here. I’ll be over at your place soon.”
