Chapter 789

Kelvin spotted Charlene not far away.

He also saw that York wasn’t interested in this gossip, but he felt that York would be shocked to hear the scandal between Thorne and Charlene.

He looked at Charlene in the distance, leaned into York’s ear, and said, “I bet you wouldn’t guess it in your wildest dreams, but Thorne’s affair is actually with—”

However, before Kelvin could finish, York also saw Charlene.

He had heard Kelvin’s words, but he really had no interest, so he didn’t think much of it. He patted Kelvin’s shoulder lightly, telling him to stop, and then said to him and Dalton, “You guys chat first. I’m going to say hi to Mr. Ferguson and his group.”

Kelvin: “…”

York turned and walked away.

Kelvin looked at Dalton with a surprised expression. “York took the initiative to go over and greet Stewart Ferguson and the others? They don’t usually interact, do they?”

Dalton thought the same.

However, “Mr. Watson and my dad both really admire Stewart and… Charlene. Maybe it’s because of that.”

“Makes sense.”

Gaylord saw York earlier than the others.

He naturally understood York’s purpose for coming over.

His face darkened, and he stayed silent.

York didn’t greet him either. After calling out to Stewart first, his gaze naturally fell on Charlene. “It’s been a while. How have you been lately?”

Charlene, “… Pretty good.”

“My father wants to invite you to dinner tomorrow. Do you have time?”

Did Mr. Watson really want to invite her to dinner, or was York asking her out under Hickey Watson’s name?

Charlene said, “Sorry, I have plans tomorrow. I’ll definitely take you up on it next time I’m free.”

“That’s fine.”

While they were talking, Henley Hawkins and Maureen Spencer also arrived. Upon seeing them, the smile on Charlene’s face faded, and she looked away. Henley looked at Charlene with somewhat complicated feelings. Maureen’s attitude was the same as in the past; she merely glanced at Charlene and immediately withdrew her gaze.

On the other side, after greeting a few friends, Dr. Lucas began chatting with Thorne. They talked about the main direction of The Henderson Group’s current projects and the latest research results of Dr. Lucas’s Research Institute,

Since the main topic was related to the Al field, Vesta opportunely chimed in to express her thoughts. Dr. Lucas nodded, “Is Ms. Hawkins also studying this major?”

“Yes,” Vesta smiled, and then

mentioned the university she had earned her Ph.D. from and the fact that her mentor was Kevitt Smith

few years ago, when you came to our university to give a speech, I was in the audience watching.”

Dr. Lucas genuinely didn’t know Vesta’s background. Hearing her

eal background and the

university she graduated from, and that she was a student of Kevitt Smith, he was actually quite surprised. “So you’re Smith’s student I haven’t been in touch wit Smith much these past few years, so I really wasn’t aware.”

After saying that, he looked at Vesta and said, “Ms. Hawkins looks very young. I didn’t expect you to have already graduated with your Ph.D.”

Dr. Lucas’s assistant probably understood interpersonal dynamics better than Dr. Lucas and chimed in from the side, “I heard Ms. Hawkins also skipped grades to enter university at thirteen or fourteen. She’s quite a genius.”

Everyone knew that Dr. Lucas had also gotten into university at thirteen and was a universally praised prodigy of his generation.

Dr. Lucas nodded, “Not bad.” Then he looked at Thorne with a smile, “She’s quite a match for you.”
