“Yeah? Are you sure?” Charlotte flashed a sly grin, letting it slide. “Better be ready this time.”
The moment hung in the air before they dove right in, sparring in the tight space. Fists and feet flew, neither of them holding back. Every move, every block, every strike was quick and sharp.
Cotton, a member of The White Whale, definitely had some skills. At first, he managed to keep up, blocking Charlotte’s punches, even managing to dodge a few of her kicks. But it didn’t last long. His strength and stamina faded fast, and soon he was on the defensive, struggling to keep up.
Off to the side, Donald watched them with narrowed eyes, his confusion growing as the fight heated up. There was something about Number 91’s moves. Sometimes she looked just like Reaver, but not quite. Had she learned from him, but never really mastered it? With talent like that at her age, she clearly wasn’t just anyone.
Cotton tried to hold his ground, arms up in a desperate block, but Charlotte broke through his defenses. He dodged, but his back slammed against the wall, pain flashing across his face. Tears pricked at his eyes and he blinked hard, refusing to let them fall.
Charlotte let her hands drop, glancing at him with an indifferent look, but the corner of her mouth curled into a soft, teasing smile. “You’re really off your game today, Cotton.”
Cotton turned his face away, eyes red, looking both embarrassed and frustrated. He wanted to disappear. No way was he going to cry. He had to pull himself together.
Seeing all this, Donald’s brow creased. Without hesitating, he vaulted over the desk, landing right in front of Charlotte.
