Chapter 554

“I’m not going anywhere, just grabbing a glass of water.” Charlotte lifted her cup, a soft smile spreading across her pretty face. “Still planning to get even with me?”
Anthony’s face changed a little. He looked nervous. “No way.”
“Really now?”
Charlotte’s smile grew as she stepped a bit closer. Her slender, pale fingers brushed gently over Anthony’s guilty expression. Her voice dropped, slow and cool. “Honestly, every time I remember how the N Organization got kicked out of Apex in pieces, it still makes me a little mad.”
The truth was, the N Organization had nearly fallen apart. If she hadn’t held on as hard as she did, everything would have come crashing down.
“But,” she said, setting her cup aside, her fingertips tracing along his cheek, “back then we didn’t even know each other. You were fighting for X Organization. I was fighting for N. It made sense.”
Right now, all she felt was relief. Thank God X Organization hadn’t actually wiped them out. If they had, there wouldn’t even be an N Organization left today.
“I’m sorry, Lottie.” Anthony’s voice was tight, heavy with guilt. He squeezed her hand, eyes turning red. “I swear, nothing like that will ever happen again.”
Charlotte just smiled. Of course it wouldn’t. Now that Anthony was hers, X Organization pretty much belonged to her too.
…
Outside the X Organization base, Hans checked his watch for what felt like the hundredth time. His hair was a mess from running his fingers through it in frustration. What on earth was taking so long inside? The meeting had already dragged on for almost an hour. With Anthony’s cold personality and N’s
stubbornness, this should have been a simple yes or no. What could they possibly be talking about for so long?
As soon as the guy who’d brought in food came out, Hans called out, “Hey, wait up!” He hurried over. “What’s going on in there?”
The guy’s was pale and his eyes darted around, like he’d seen something

Hans felt his stomach drop. “The boss and N, what about them?” He leaned closer, voice low. “Come on, just say it.”
The guy clutched the food tray like it was a shield, then leaned in and whispered, “Do you think the boss… is into men?”
Hans stared at him, totally lost. “What did you just say?”
Anthony’s love life was normal, right? He had Charlotte. That should have proved it, shouldn’t it?
The guy took a shaky breath. “The boss was holding N on the sofa, and they looked really close. Like, really close.”
He was practically out of breath

worked up he was. The had nearly burned his eyes out. Anthony had a girlfriend so how could he be doing that with N?
Hans froze, barely believing what he was hearing. “Say that again.”
“I swear I saw it.” The guy’s face was
even paler now, his expression almost painful. “N was sitting right
on Anthony’s lap, and Anthony’s ne

walked in, Anthony was leaning in and talking to N. Their faces were this close He pinched his thumb and forefinger together to show the tiniest gap.
Even though N’s back was to him, he couldn’t have made a mistake. Anthony was definitely getting cozy with a man.
Hans checked again and again, his heart pounding so hard it was all he could hear.
