Chapter 387
“I’m sorry.” Anthony’s heart was still pounding. He bent down a little, pressing his forehead against Charlotte’s, his voice rough and low. “Tell me how I can make it up
to you.”
Charlotte’s lips tightened. Her cool, dark eyes traced the lines of his face, lingering on features so unfairly handsome that it almost hurt to look at him.
“Lottie Anthony frowned, unsure what she was thinking.
“Come here,” she said, grabbing his tie and tugging him closer. Before he could react, she leaned in and pressed her warm lips to his.
Anthony barely had time to register the jolt of electricity before Charlotte parted her lips and bit down, hard.
He sucked in a sharp breath.
She was really mad this time. Anthony gave a helpless smile, freeing one hand to gently cradle the back of her head, making it easier for her.
A few minutes passed before Charlotte finally let go, her anger spent. She pulled away at her own pace.
Anthony wiped a trace of blood from the corner of her mouth with his thumb, a soft chuckle slipping out.
Charlotte stared at his now-swollen lips. The memory of N Organization’s brush with disaster flickered through her mind, making her gaze turn cold. “Don’t forget, you owe me.”
Anthony figured she meant what had happened earlier and didn’t bother to deny it. “Yeah, I owe you.” He wrapped her coat tighter around her, brushing his nose against hers. His eyes were impossibly gentle, his voice low and tempting. “Lottie, I’ll give myself to you. Would that be enough?”
His whole life, everything he had, all for her.
Charlotte studied him quietly, her expression finally starting to soften.
“Did you miss me?” Anthony asked, seeing her anger fade away. He inched closer,
his heart oddly soft. “I missed you. Really missed you.”
Seeing her again had thrown him, a mix of surprise and happiness he hadn’t expected.
Just as Anthony was about to kiss her, Charlotte put her hand between them, her voice cool. “Still trying to kiss me?”
on
“I am,” Anthony said, eyes locked hers, a lazy smile tugging at his lips. He didn’t even try to hide how much he adored her. “I really am.
He rested his hand on the back of her neck and leaned in like he was going to kiss her again.
Charlotte blinked, then pushed him away quickly and took two steps back.
“Keep dreaming.” She wasn’t ready to let this go.
“Get my team together. We’re leaving.”
Anthony’s brow creased, but all he could do was smile, a little defeated. Charlotte
Cad every right to be angry,
knew it.
Water splashed in the bathroom.
Anthony stood by the window in his bathrobe, a cigarette between his fingers, letting out a thin stream of smoke.
He thought about Lottie’s shooting skills, the B20… So many things about her were still a mystery.
When Charlotte didn’t come out for
a white, Anthony’s conceret
put
out his cigarette and walked to
the bathroom door.
“Lottie, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” she answered quietly, but something about her voice was off.
Anthony’s first thought was that she might have gotten hurt when she jumped from the car.
Before he could work it out, a sudden thud sounded from inside.
He didn’t hesitate. He threw the bathroom door open.
